41st All-India Sociological Conference at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

The conference will impart a podium for discussing methodological and conceptual question of relevance for development, marginalization and people’s movements.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar, Orissa will be arranging a conference from December 27, 2015 to December 29, 2015. The 41st All-India Sociological conference will organize by Department of Sociology & Social work on the topic of Development, Marginalization and People’s Movements.

The theme will focus on the Marginalized people and their development, who suffered most from the process of development, which includes rural poor, scheduled tribes and scheduled castes, manual workers, women, physically disabled, etc. Thousands schemes, policy and schemed comes and goes but there is no change in the condition of Marginalized. Due to this a serious thought needs to be given to the impact of development on marginalized communities. The objective of the conference is to facilitate the development of new trans-disciplinary research and new inter-sector networks that will provide an opportunity for theoretical and applied knowledge relocate across different sectors in society -academic, public policy, civil society etc.

Methodology of Organization of the Conference

  • The three-day conference will begin with h the Inaugural Session on December 27, 2015 at 10.30 a.m.
  • On the second day of the conference, i.e. on December 28, 2015 from 10.00 am to 1.00 p.m. 
  • On December 29, 2015 after lunch t he Valedictory Session would be held in which the report10 of the conference will be presented .
  • A visit to Puri & Konark is being arranged on the morning of the second day of the conference.
  • A cultural programme is also being hosted in the evening on the first day.
