Transcending Boundaries through Ecosystems: IIM Rohtak organises 4th NCR Business Summit

Long gone are the days when success of a company was wholly contingent on its internal capabilities. The success of today’s organisations rests on something that is bigger than the companies themselves: the efficacy of their business ecosystems. The ability to embed their own core-competency in the network of suppliers, distributors, customers and competitors sets successful companies apart from the rest.

The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak hosted its fourth edition of NCR Business Summit on November 21, 2015. This summit focused on the theme “Business Ecosystems: The next generation business integration”. The event was graced by eminent business leaders from leading NCR-based companies.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Narinder Ahluwalia, Chief Operating Officer, Global Pueblo Solutions in which he underlined the ever-increasing importance of creating and sustaining business ecosystems. He remarked that notwithstanding the abundance of talent, lack of access to information is detrimental to success of ecosystems.

The first panel discussion revolved around the pivotal role played by business ecosystems in today’s ever-dynamic business environment.  Mr. Sunder Rajan, CEO and President, SonaKoyo Steering Systems Ltd shed light on the way companies from different sectors are collaborating to create ecosystems. Ms. Chinmayee Abbey, Founder, Change Ur Story highlighted how co-evolution and co-creation are essential to ensuring success of ecosystems. The pressing need to focus on promoting the ecosystems' overall health apart from individual organisational interests was the cornerstone of the discourse.

The second panel discussion was focused on taking ever-increasing competition head on and exploiting opportunities in business ecosystems. Mr. Deepak Loomba, Founder & CEO, De Core Group of Companies and Mr. Ashish Dhar, Founder and Director, Grand Opinion Health Care remarked that odds of carving out opportunities increase manifold when firms work in collaboration. The pivotal role played by collaboration and competition within an ecosystem in driving growth was the centerpiece of the discussion.

The summit engendered a stimulating dialogue on business ecosystems and their role in ensuring growth and innovation. With intriguing discussions, the fourth edition of NCR Business Summit turned out to be a resounding success. The event was a further step for IIMR in becoming a global center for learning and knowledge creation.
