7th Asia Pacific Conference on Exercise and Sports Science (APCESS) 2015 by Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad
Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad and Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS) together held the 7th Asia Pacific Conference on Exercise and Sports Science 2015 (APCESS 2015) from October 14, 2015 October 16, 2015. The conference was supported by the Sports Authority of India. Being organized for the 1st time in India, the conference theme was ‘Inter-disciplinary Applied Approach to Health and Performance Enhancement through Sports Science’.
Day 2 of APCESS 2015 witnessed to a vast presentation of technical sessions, oral presentations and symposiums. The symposium on "Nutritional Approach for Optimal Health and Performance Enhancement” touched on the diversity of nutritional interventions for health and performance enhancement in sports and exercise. The symposium began by a presentation by Prof. Herm (Germany) on the importance of nutrition for sports performance enhancement during growth and development. This will be followed by presentation on sports specific nutrition for optimal health and performance in general by Scientist Dr. Y. Venkata Ramana.
Prof Hajime Ohmori, Director of Japan Society of Exercise and Sports Physiology presented the role of branched chain amino acid and taurine supplementation as useful nutritional strategy for attenuating exercise-induced DOMS and muscle damage following high-intensity eccentric exercise. The symposium ended by a presentation on the usefulness of coconut water as a beverage for health and exercise by Dr. Rabindarjeet Singh.
