About Delhi University JAT 2017

JAT refers to the Joint Admission Test, which is conducted by the Delhi University every year in order to select the right candidates for admission in some of its undergraduate programmesb like BMS / BBA (FIA) / B.A. (Honours) Business Economics. These programmes are available at DU’s affiliated colleges. As far as Delhi University JAT 2017 is concerned, it will be conducted for students’ admission in six of its affiliated institutions that offer BMS programmes. The test also admits students to eight other institutions that provide BBA and business economics courses.

While students first go through a written exam, they are also called for a personal interview and group discussion after clearing DU Entrance Exam 2017. The selection criterion involves a weightage of 85% to the written test and 15% to the interview and GD. Candidates wanting to go for the Delhi University JAT 2017 will be able to do so in June 2017. The interview and GD rounds may continue until July. Delhi University Joint Admission Test 2017

DU JAT 2017 Application Procedure:

Step 1: JAT is a paper-pencil test that is usually conducted offline. However, candidates will need to fill their application forms in the month of May. However, they need to ensure that they fulfil the university’s eligibility conditions in order to appear in the Delhi University JAT 2017. The following table gives you the eligibility conditions you must meet.

Secured a minimum of 60% marks (Gen and OBC categories) in the qualifying exam (55% for SC/ST/CW/PwD categories)


Four papers to be considered for calculating the aggregate marks – English, mathematics, and two subjects approved by DU; It is important to pass in all these four papers individually.


Candidates with a compartment or those appearing for improvement in class 12th exam will not be eligible to apply.


Foreign candidates to apply through Foreign Students Advisor in the University

Step 2: Candidates should confirm their eligibility and possess the mark sheets of their qualifying exam that will have to be produced when called for interview/GD. Students belonging to reserved categories should check that they possess the category certificate too.

Step 3: Candidates should fill the online application form for taking Delhi University JAT 2017 exam. They should have the below-mentioned documents before they start filling the form:

  • The mark sheet for class 12
  • A scanned passport-size photograph
  • Their scanned signature
  • Valid email ID and mobile phone number
  • Figures of total annual family income (in INR)
  • A credit or debit card for online fee payment

Step 4: Candidates should provide all the required details in the online form carefully and correctly. This can be done after online registration. They should make fee payment so the form can be submitted. On successful form submission, they will receive an acknowledgement slip to be carried to complete Delhi University UG admission process.

DU JAT 2017 Fee Submission:

DU JAT 2017 Cut-off 

Delhi University officials will announce JAT cut-off list after the entrance exam is conducted ane results are declared. Further selection process for admission to various undergraduate courses will be done accoring to DU Jat Cut-off list. Most probably, the cut-off list for DU JAT will be announced in the third week of July 2017.

DU JAT 2017 Syllabus 

The 2-hour Joint Admission Test contains 120 multiple-choice questions. You get three marks for each correct answer and one negative mark for each incorrect answer. There are 30 questions each in four different sections, and each section is worth 90 marks. The syllabus for each of these sections includes:

  • General English – topics like paragraph comprehension, error identification, vocabulary, grammar usage, deductive reasoning, analogies, idioms, and syllogisms
  • Business and General Awareness – topics like Indian and world history, science and technology, business terminologies, books and authors, logos, brands, taglines, government and politics, personalities, and business entities
  • Quantitative Ability – topics like visual reasoning, inferential reasoning, mathematical series, averages, numbers, profit-loss, time and work, and graphs and pie charts
  • Reasoning and Analytical Ability – topics like logical puzzles, analogies, family tree, arrangements, coding-decoding, and groups and conditionality

DU JAT 2017 Preparation Tips:

Here are some quick tips for Delhi University JAT 2017 preparation -

  • Take regular mock tests available online or in books to not only practice similar questions but also learn time management. Follow the exam pattern to time yourself in mock tests.
  • Read at least two leading English newspapers daily for an hour or two.
  • Pick a nice data interpretation book to prepare for this section.
  • Find a few difficult words daily and note them down with their meaning and usage. Keep revising your lists. You can do the same with math formulas and concepts.
  • Use previous years’ papers and practice solving them. If you cannot get it for JAT, then go for papers from other exams that follow the same syllabus.

DU JAT 2017 - What after Result?

After the result of Delhi University JAT 2017 is declared in July, successful candidates in the merit list can appear in the process of counselling. The counselling will most likely happen in the month of August. Candidates will be allotted a seat according to their performance in the exam and their rank on the final list. During counselling towards admissions, candidates will have to be ready with the following documents: 

  • JAT admit card
  • Class 12th mark sheet and certificate
  • Income certificate (for OBC candidates)
  • Category certificate, if applicable

The final admission will take place for around 1,000 seats across all participating colleges.
