All About AILET 2018

AILET or All India Law Entrance Test is an all India level entrance examination, which makes students eligible to get admission in various law courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Every year, thousands of students appear for AILET exam in order to secure a seat in law programmes offered by the National Law Universities (NLUs) and other affiliated colleges. Notably, NLU is the conducting body of AILET, which is a paper-based exam.

Just like every year, AILET 2018 will be conducted on the first Sunday of May 2018. Hence, the exam will be organised on May 6, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. AILET 2018 application forms will be available online by the first week of January 2018.

Since the AILET exam is conducted to evaluate students' skills and aptitude on various degree level, the exam paper, difficulty level, exam pattern etc will be different for the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. However, the only things that will be common for all the aspirants of AILET 2018 are that it will contain multiple-choice questions for candidates applying for all UG, PG and Ph.D level. Besides, the exam duration will be 90 minutes.

AILET 2018 Important Dates

National Law University issues an official notification regarding the examination dates and application procedure in newspapers as well as on its official website. The official notification for the exam was released on September 26, 2017. AILET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

As AILET 2018 will be conducted to offer admissions to students in BA LLB, LLM and PhD courses, the admission criteria will vary accordingly. Let's take a look at the course wise eligibility criteria for AILET 2018 here:

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)- Five-Year Programme

Qualification: The applicant is required to secure minimum 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2 or equivalent examination. Students appearing in the 10+2 examination can also apply for AILET 2018.

Age: The maximum age limit to apply for BA. LLB program via AILET 2018 exam is 20 years as on 1 July 2018 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

For LLM (One-Year)

Qualification: The applicant must hold an LLB or any other equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate in order to be eligible for AILET 2018 for LLM program. Candidates belonging to SC, ST or PWD categories will get the relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required. Those appearing in the final year of the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply.

For PhD

The applicant must have an LLM or any other equivalent degree from a recognised university in order to apply AILET 2018. The candidate must have secured minimum 55% marks in aggregate, 50% in case of belonging to SC, ST or PWD category.

AILET 2018 Application Procedure

As mentioned earlier, AILET 2018 application forms will be available from the first week of January 2018. Interest candidates should visit the official website of NLU Delhi to register themselves for AILET 2018 exam.
 
After clicking on the AILET 2018 Registration link, enter all the required information including Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, Photograph etc. 
 
Once the registration is complete, go to the 'Application Locker' tab and select the application form you want to fill-in.
 
After filling-up AILET 2018 application form carefully, make the payment of prescribed application fee for AILET 2018.
 
As soon your AILET 2018 application fee payment is received by the examination authority, your registration process will be confirmed.

AILET Application Fee

The applicant must deposit AILET 2018 application fee to complete the registration process of AILET 2018. The general category applicants are required to deposit INR 3000 while candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD categories need to pay INR 1000. Besides, SC/ ST applicants living below the poverty line will be exempted from paying AILET 2018 application fee.
 
Applicants can pay AILET 2018 fee at both online and offline mode as well. The online payment can be initiated via using Debit Card, Credit Card and/ or Net Banking while offline fee can be paid by issuing a cash deposit slip which will be payable at the nearest post office.

AILET 2018 Admit Card

The National Law University (NLU) will probably issue AILET 2018 Admit Cards by the second week of April 2018. AILET 2018 applicants can download their admit card by visiting the official website of NLU Delhi.

AILET Admit Card 2018 will be your ticket to enter the examination hall. Hence, all the applicants must carry their AILET Admit Card to the AILET 2018 exam centre.

(Note: No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall in the absence of the admit card.)

How to Download AILET 2018 Admit Card?

The applicant needs to visit the official website of NLU Delhi and click on the ‘AILET 2018 Admit Card/ Hall Ticket’ link available on the bottom of the page.

The applicant is required to enter his/ her Name and Date of Birth or AILET 2018 Application Number, which was provided to the candidate at the time of registration.

After filling up all the required information, click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Once the admit card is downloaded, verify the details mentioned on the admit card and save the E-Admit Card.

The last step after downloading the admit card is to take the printout of it for future correspondences.

Some Facts about AILET 2018 Admit Card

AILET 2018 Admit Card will only be available online on the official website of NLU Delhi.

The admit card can be downloaded either by entering applicant’s name or the application number along with the candidate’s date of birth.

The entry of the candidate in the examination hall is strictly prohibited in the absence of AILET 2018 admit card and a proof of identity.

AILET 2018 Admit Card will contain students’ information such as the applicant’s name, parent’s name, AILET 2018 date and exam time and name & exam centre code etc.

In case the candidate finds any discrepancy in the AILET 2018 admit card, s/he is advised to report the matter to the NLU Delhi authority at the earliest.

As the above table suggests, AILET 2018 exam will be of 150 marks and there will be 150 questions. The AILET 2018 question paper will be divided into 5 sections namely A, B, C, D and E. The exam duration will be 1 hour and 30 minutes. The AILET 2018 question paper will consist of multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer will carry one mark while there will be no negative marking. AILET 2018 exam will be based on English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning and Mathematics.

AILET 2018 Syllabus

The syllabus for AILET 2018 for candidates appearing for BA LLB candidates involves questions from five different sections. Questions of legal propositions and related set of facts will test the legal aptitude of the candidate. Basic Mathematics questions on algebra, speed and distance, permutations 7 combinations, etc. testing their aptitude with numbers. There will also be questions on current affairs and general awareness, testing the candidate’s general knowledge. Reasoning questions like logical sequence, coding, decoding, etc will test the logical aptitude of the candidate. English language abilities will be tested by questions on vocabulary, grammar, etc.
 
LLM candidates will be asked questions on Law of Torts, Constitutional Law, Legal Theory, Criminal law and Law of Contracts.

AILET 2018 Result

Every year, the National Law University Delhi announces the AILET 2018 Result in the third week of May. Those appeared for AILET 2018 exam can check their result by visiting the official website of NLU after the university makes the announcement of the result declaration. The University will also release a merit list, which will be based on the marks obtained by the students in AILET 2018 exam.

The NLU Delhi will also release the question booklet and answer on its official website for students’ reference. The University also gives the provision to students to request for the copy of their OMR answer sheet by paying a certain fee to the NLU Registrar.

AILET 2018 Counselling

After the announcement of AILET 2018 result, the university will begin AILET 2018 Counselling procedure. The NLU will commence the counselling and admission process in the month of June 2018 at its Delhi campus. The applicant must be present in the counselling session as per the schedule and the choice of his/her course and college.
