AIM, New Delhi conducts Orientation Programme for PGDM Batch 2015-17

AIM, New Delhi has pioneered the model of achieving academic excellence by structuring the system, operations and standard operating procedures.

Mr Vijay Kapoor (Director-ICAI) lights the lamp to kick start the Orientation Programme at AIM, New Delhi.

The inaugural ceremony at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi for the orientation of the 20th PGDM Batch was held on 06th July 2015 at the B. B. Verma auditorium at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi campus.

Mr Vijay Kapoor (Director-ICAI, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Noida), graced the occasion as Guest of Honour for the occasion. The ceremony ended with the Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Prof. S.Dasgupta for a successful inauguration ceremony.

Faculty Introduction & Academic Review

The Faculty Introduction & Academic Review for the orientation of the 20th PGDM Batch was held on the same day at the B. B. Verma auditorium at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi campus. During this introduction session, the new PGDM students got to learn about the learning system of the institute with faculty and much more relevant information for them as AIM students.

Motivational Talk - Orientation of the 20th PGDM Batch

He gave a motivational speech to motivate the incoming PGDM Batch 2015-17 students during the Orientation Programme on Power of Values (a very relevant topic for aspiring managers) in a highly interactive manner.

Swami Chidrupananda wished that the students should live with perfect and holistic health to contribute to the collective well-being of human kind. He talked about the harmony of body, mind and intellect.

Prof. Dr S. P. Chouhan, presented Vote of Thanks reinforcing Swamiji’s teachings.

The Special lectures’ Series

As part of the orientation process at AIM, New Delhi, there were a series of special lectures. The lecture series is designed to help prevent surprises in academia and make the new PGDM batch 2015-17 feel welcome in the institute’s competitive learning environment. These general orientation lectures cover important issues that affect the PGDM students. Some of them included:

Industry Session on Finance and Banking

A guest lecture on "Strategies for moving up the ladder in the Finance function" was delivered on 7th of July, 2015 during industry session on Finance and Banking. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sanjay Bhutani, Country Manager, Bausch & Lomb India. During the course of the lecture Mr. Sanjay Bhutani talked about opportunities and challenges in the field of finance and banking. He also talked how Finance as a function has undergone major transformation over the last decade and what’s their significance.

Panel Discussion

The guest lecture was followed by a panel discussion on “Career Options in Finance and Banking”. Chair for the panel discussion was Prof R K Srivastava.

The panellists for the discussion included:

  • Mr. Nikhil Gupta, Appointed Actuary, Oriental Life Insurance (Qualified actuary from Institute of Actuaries of India and Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, UK)
  • Mr. Rakesh Singh, Ex-President, ICAI
  • Mr. Ravi Khandelwal, Executive Director (Finance & Market Research) Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR)

Industry Session on Human Resource

A guest lecture on “Career Options in HR” was delivered on 8th of July, 2015 during industry session on HR. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ritesh Arora, Head – Sales HR, Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS). In course of lecture Mr. Ritesh Arora talked about HR as a field and what are the career options in HR. The session on HR turned out to be a very interactive one, as students participated and asked many questions on the topic.

Panel Discussion

The guest lecture was followed by a panel discussion on "Significance of HR in Organisational Performance".  The panel discussion was chaired by Prof. SP Chauhan.

The panellists for the discussion included:

  • Mr. Shubhankar Ghose, Chief Manager – HR, Muthoot Fincorp Ltd.
  • Mr. Ritesh Arora, Head – Sales HR, Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS)
  • Mr. R Wanchoo, CGM-NBCC Ltd.

Industry Session on Marketing

During this session on marketing, a guest lecture on “Entrepreneurship Development in Horticulture – Opportunities and Challenges” was delivered on 9th of July, 2015. The lecture was delivered by Col. H. S. Walia, Entrepreneur/Mentor, and Trainer & Consultant. He shared his entrepreneurial experience during the lecture.

After a lecture on entrepreneurship a lecture on general management and introduction of innovative ideas in business was delivered by Mr Pankaj Dubey, MD – Polaris. Lastly, Mr. Satinder Juneja, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, NIIT Technologies, delivered a lecture on technology and digital marketing. The session on Marketing was a real hit with the incoming PGDM students. The session witnessed a lively and a very active participation by students in the lectures.

The guest lectures were followed by a panel discussion on “Career Options in Marketing ".  The panel discussion was chaired by Prof Ritu Gupta.

Industry Session on International Business

During this session on International Business, a guest lecture on “International Business – Opportunities in Renewable Energy Sector” was delivered on 10th of July, 2015. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Vijay Menon, DGM, Tata Power Solar Systems Limited.

After a lecture by Mr. Vijay Menon, a lecture on “How to excel in marketing, brand management, merchandising and retail management – Challenges” was delivered by Swapan Dutta, President – Retail for Monte Carlo Oswal Woollen Mills Ltd. Lastly, Rajesh Seth, Head - Central Logistics at ACC Limited, delivered a lecture on “Changing face of marketing and importance of WOM (word of mouth) in digital marketing”. Like other sessions this session was also very lively.
