AIMSR Woman's Cell
Aditya Institute of Management Studies and Research celebrated International Women's Day on March 8, 2016 by honouring womanhood and inaugurating a New Woman's Cell - 'Manasvini' for encouraging the students towards woman empowerment and development.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ranna Doshi (Eminent Gynaecologist), Ms. Vandana Shirgre (Asst. Police Inspector- Borivali Police Station) and Ms. Sonali Tipre (Director, Margins View).
Ms. Vandana Shirgre, the head for woman safety and children development at Borivali Police Station, informed the students about the laws and regulations put forth by the Indian Constitution, and made them aware about the latest development which has taken place for e.g. the POCSO act, section 365 and 370. It was comforting to know how the Indian Police is working as an NGO to alert the citizens and are keeping city safe.
Overall woman health issues, the rise of Uterine Cancer and Breast Cancer amongst the women of today was highlighted by Ms. Ranna Doshi. She suggested few changes in our diet by eating healthy, exercising and regular check-ups to avoid them.
Ms. Sonali Tipre motivated and inspired every one with her pledge for parity but with a unique perspective by making a strong point to fight for gender neutrality, rather than fighting for gender equality. For being a Leader, gender is never a deciding factor for selection, but the competency of an individual builds a leader. She encouraged the females to do best at what they do and let their work talk on their behalf. She also gave her opinion as to why women are not considered as human beings but objects, by stating that respect for woman should be inculcated at a value system stage & not at a manifestation stage, It's only then the Women of Today will be truly empowered.
The event was celebrated with all gusto and support from the Staff, Faculty and Management at AIMSR.
