Amity University inaugurates Commonwealth Chess Championship 2015

Around 100 foreign players graced the inauguration ceremony of Commonwealth Chess Championship 2015 at Amity University!

Delhi Chess Association organized the Commonwealth Chess Championship under the aegis of The All India Chess Federation, World Chess Federation FIDE and Commonwealth Chess Association. The inauguration was held at Amity University on June 22, 2015.
 
Around 100 foreign players graced the inauguration ceremony including 17 Grandmasters (Men), 5 Grandmasters (Women), 22 International Grandmasters (Men) and 8 International Grandmasters (Women). The ceremony was attended by Tania Sachdev; Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta; Grandmaster Koneru Humpy; Mr. Bharat Singh Chauhan, Chairman, Commonwealth Chess Association; Mr. D V Sundar, Vice President, World ChessFederation FIDE and Mr. Atul Kumar Gupta, Joint Secretary, All India Chess Federation.
 
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan by giving the inaugural speech said that Amity University has always take upper hand to encourage the students to play chess. According to him chess helps a person to imbibe the peculiarity of instinct, strategic thinking, narrow analysis, hard work and perseverance. He also wished to organize more and more such competitions in near future by providing students the opportunity to actively involve.
 
Common Wealth Chess Championship provides excellent opportunity to world’s best players by providing a grand stage to showcase their talents. 11 commonwealth countries including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, Maldives, Zambia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Australia amongst others are actively involved with 600 players to compete on this grand stage.
