This step has been initiated to fill in the vacancies across the state. Improving quality of education is the key objective of the Assam Government. Read on!
Assam Government has directed all schools and colleges of Assam to appoint over 13000 teachers to fill the vacancies across the state during early next year.
Recently at a function, the Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over appointment letters to 73 teachers for higher secondary school and promised that over 13000 more teachers will be appointed early next year. The plan includes appointing around 11000 teachers in primary schools. However, the appointment of the next phase will have about 27000 teachers. Within next two months, 1287 teachers will be given appointment letters. Not just teachers, while there are 229 posts of lecturers that need to be filled within the next month, 700 institutions still do not have any principals at this moment.
The statistics above clearly shows that Assam’s education system is dealing with shortage of teachers. Lack of teachers and principals in schools and colleges may lead to degradation of the quality of education and seriousness towards it. However, this step taken by the Assam government is commendable and will help various schools and colleges get their teachers and principals.
Assam Announces Free Higher Education for the Poor
Assam has been taking quite some steps to ensure quality education to every sect of the society. Early this year, Assam government announced free education to students with less than INR 1 lakh per annum. This scheme was for students who were taking admissions in higher secondary, three-year degree and polytechnic diploma courses starting this year.
Considering the scenario of private institutions these days, it has certainly become tough to afford their tuition fees. However, with this initiative, numerous students aspiring for higher education will now be much easier.
