Avantika University conducts ‘Design Thinking’ workshop for design aspirants

Avantika University, an MIT Pune Campus in Ujjain participated at Design Meraki 2017 -18 to enable students to realize the spirit of design, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship through a workshop customized to suit the aspirant's interest and inclination

Avantika University, India’s first design centered university participated at Design Meraki 2017- 18 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Design Meraki witnessed participation from curious aspirants to learn more about design industry. Through this initiative, the University reached out to the applicants that are inclined towards design as a career and are preparing for the design entrance examinations.       

With an objective to offer a peep into the minds of the designers, Avantika University conducted an experiential learning workshop with over 100 Industrial Design aspirants. Industrial Design is a process of design applied to products that are to be manufactured through techniques of mass production.

The workshop included hands-on and practical learning opportunities to prototype ideas and showcase creativity for the participants. They were exposed to problem-solving techniques, by learning the ideology of ideation. The session offered them with a deep dive into the design process by solving challenges that made the participants understand the world of Design and Design Thinking.

Addressing the participants, Professor Sanjay Jain, Director, Design Education for Avantika University – An MIT, Pune Campus in Ujjain, “Design is not just a proprietary professional skill but a life skill. To help you acquire this skill the best teachers are 5Ws (Why, What, Who, Where, When) and 1H (How).” Professor Jain presented Avantika University's unique learning approach to aspiring students and their parents. Through his dialogue, he offered a reflection on the various facets of design as a discipline, its applications and career progression. Professor Jain highlighted the focus of Avantika about how it can help develop student’s mind through a design-centered approach that lays prominence to synthesis over analysis.

Avantika University aspires to change the perspective of higher education. It will create the next generation of Design Thinkers and leaders who will drive innovation and has an objective of resetting the learning pedagogy. The University is committed to providing world-class quality of education.

Karad, Founder, Executive President & Managing Trustee, Maharashtra Academy of Engineering Education and Research (MAEER), Pune. This endeavor is mentored by eminent educationist Dr. Sanjay Dhande - Former Director IIT Kanpur and supported by a team of passionate design & engineering professionals and academicians.
