IISM Students provided Security and Hospitality Services at BPXI vs. South Africa Match during October 30-31, 2015
Match day! Not only for the players but also for the students of the International Institute of Sports Management (IISM), Friday October 30, 2015 and Saturday October 31, 2015 was a warm up game between the Board President’s XI and South Africa was played at the Braborne cricket ground. A bunch of us students had the opportunity to work for the warm-up game played between these two sides. Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim was the chief selector for the game.
The match began at 9:30 AM IST, with the BPXI batting first. Dale Steyn and Philander managed to get early breakthroughs for the visitors leaving BPXI 20-3, but Opener Lokesh Rahul and wicketkeeper Naman Ojha managed scores of 72 and 52 respectively with Hardik Pandya contributing with a quick-fire 47(55). BPXI were bowled out for 296.
To everyone’s surprise Indian seamers had troubled the South African batsmen on a sub-continent pitch, with Shardul Thakur destroying their top order completely, eventually ending up with figures of 4-70. Once again it was AB de Villiers who rescued the visitors with his magnificent 112 of 131 balls and managed a respectable total of 302 for his team. Pujara and Rahul then opened the second innings and stood firm with scores of 49 & 43 and the end of the second day, the match was drawn.
The students were divided into two groups, which included Security and Hospitality. It was a great experience for the students, as they learnt how the security at the ground is managed on a match day, and how any event manager must take care of the needs of the crew members of both teams. They began work 2 hours prior to the game started and completed their duties at stumps. The students were of great help to the CCI management committee and had shown their gratitude to them for all their support.
