You are at the juncture of your education and career; have you thought about what you want to do?

We have grown up believing that in order to be successful, you have to be either a Doctor or an Engineer. Or in today’s world, an MBA. There is no denying that these careers are one of the best paying jobs currently, but they are not exclusive! Contrary to popular belief, with the advancement of technology and maturing of markets, a host of lucrative careers have cropped up.

According to a report by Economic Times in December 2015, the Indian job market looks promising in 2016 onwards and assures pay hikes in the range of 10-30% along with aggressive hiring in the private sector. But to boost this, the Indian market will need a shove from the e-commerce sector and ‘Make in India’ campaign.

With the end of 2015, HR experts and headhunters feel green shoots of 'achche din' were visible in the job market as hiring activities grew by nearly 10 per cent the previous year and broadly an upward trend was witnessed as the months passed by, barring a few blips around May-June.

You are at the juncture of your education and career; have you thought about what you want to do? Have you assessed your interests and skill set to determine what’s the best fit for you?

To help you make a decision on which career to pursue, here’s a sneak peek into the top industries of the future as predicted by industry gurus. So if you have it in you, explore!

They realised that fossil-fuel won’t last us long, if the consumption grew at the rate at which it was growing. So the long term solution was to invest and develop renewable energy to meet with the demand generated by industries, automobiles etc. The renewable energy or alternative energy or green energy as people normally refer to it encompasses solar power, wind power, geothermal energy, biofuels and hydropower, amongst others. With global climate change issues occupying a prominent position in science and technology, industry and international relations, the role of renewable energy, energy conservation and energy management has come into a sharp focus in recent years.

As such, these have created dozens of new careers, from Mechanics and Plant Managers to Scientists, Engineers, and even Sales and Marketing professionals, as these energies have become more mainstream. Those with scientific minds who enjoy research and care about the earth's future are good candidates for a career in alternative energy.
