Since, the field of genetic engineering is highly research oriented; you may consider pursuing a doctoral degree for research independently. Though, a Bachelors or Master’s degree in genetic engineering is also good, but the career in genetics engineering is mostly limited to being a research assistant or a lab manager. Without a Ph.D in Genetics Engineering, you can neither lead a team of researchers nor establish your own laboratory.
