CLAT merit list 2018 will be announced soon after declaration of result. Candidates getting qualifying marks will only get their names in the merit list of CLAT 2018.

CLAT 2018 Merit List

National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) Kochi will announce Common Law Admission Test 2018 merit list immediately after the declaration of the result. Candidates getting minimum passing marks and meeting minimum CLAT 2018 cut-off will only get their names in the merit list. CLAT merit list is the rank list for the national level law entrance exam conducted by National Law Universities (NLUs). In the CLAT merit list, 2018 aspirants will be listed as per All India Rank secured by them in the exam. Apart from this, candidates will also be able to check state-specific rank and merit list for candidates from different categories including general, OBC, SC, and ST. CLAT result 2018 for both UG and PG courses will be declared together following which the merit list will be prepared for the candidates who cleared the exam. Candidates can also calculate their scores with the help of CLAT 2018 answer key released after the exam and get an idea of their chances of getting their names in the merit list. CLAT Merit List 2018

CLAT merit list 2018 will have names of the candidates according to the marks obtained by them in the exam. The selection committee will release four merit lists for CLAT counselling. NUALS Kochi will publish the merit list in PDF format, which candidates will be able to download from the official website by using their login credentials created while filling CLAT application form 2018. Apart from the total number candidates appeared the in the exam, the merit list of CLAT 2018 will also have the performance of the individuals with their state rank. Given below are the factors the exam conducting authorities will take into consideration to shortlist candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses:

Tie Breaking Rule for CLAT 2018 Merit List

The tie-breaking rule is used in the case when two or more candidates get equal marks. There is a different process of deciding ranks for candidates applying for UG course and PG courses.

CLAT 2018 Tie Breaking Process for UG

  • First preference will be given to the score of legal aptitude section in CLAT 2018. Candidates with better score will get higher rank in the merit list.
  • If marks are not helpful, candidates' age will be considered and the applicant with higher age will get higher rank in the merit list of CLAT 2018.
  • In case both the above-mentioned conditions fail to decide the rank, the final decision will be made through computerised draw.

CLAT 2018 Tie Breaking Process for PG

  • For candidates applying for PG course through CLAT 2018, first step to break the tie will be to consider the age of the candidates. Older candidate will get a higher rank.
  • Computerised draw is the second option to decide the rank for CLAT 2018 merit list.

CLAT 2018 Counselling

Candidates who get their names in the merit list of CLAT 2018 will be called for the counselling session. The candidates will be asked for their choice of law institutes they want to get admission to. CLAT counselling 2018 will be conducted online and seats will be allotted on merit-cum-preference basis. Candidates will also be required to pay INR 50,000 as the counselling fee. Final allotment of seats in different National Law Universities and other CLAT participating colleges will be done on the basis of rank, choices filled by the candidates and availability of seats in specific college. Candidates will be required to report to the allotted college to complete the admission process.
