Delhi University mass communication Admission process:

The Delhi University Mass Communication Admission process for the current year is very different from the previous ones. For enrolments into the previous BJMC programmes, clearing a common entrance test – CJET was an essentiality. Currently, no such requirements exist, as DU has replaced it with a merit-based intake process. Herein, the candidate’s academic performance in the 10+2 exam will be crucial for securing a seat in BJMC programme. Though the efficacy of the new intake system is yet to be established, the number of applications for the said programme has witnessed an unprecedented surge.

Delhi University Mass Communication Syllabus:

BJMC curriculum has also undergone a paradigm shift in the recent years. Restricted to journalism in the earlier days, the curriculum now also includes Mass Communication. Despite the change in the course structure, journalism continues to be a predominant element. As such, the Delhi University Mass Communication Admission aspirant will study the nuances of journalism, including political dynamics, societal changes and impact, in addition to core values of mass communication. Because of the change in curriculum, the concept of ‘four papers each year’ has given way to a more flexible paper system.

Bringing some respite to overstressed students, DU recently downsized the number of papers in the first year. Previously, students had to sit for four papers but this year onwards, they will be sitting for just two papers in the initial year of the course. However, students will have to contend with an accumulative boost in difficulty levels and a number of subjects as they progress with the degree. In the third year, BJMC students will have to clear five subjects, which will require some doing on their part. So, go for the Delhi University Mass Communication Admission only if you can endure the curriculum.

When pursuing BJMC, you will have to opt for four skill-based subjects, popularly known as Applied Courses. The rationale here is to equip you with the first-hand industry knowledge, which will go a long way in keeping your career prospects lively. Additionally, the new programme incorporates additional papers, such as the Print Production and Still Photography. The former familiarises you with the application of design software while the latter focuses on capturing inert objects and subject matters. Documentary Production, which previously remained a voluntary activity, is now an integral part of the course. Accordingly, you have to submit a documentary of at least 12 minutes to attain a BJMC degree.

Delhi University Mass Communication Eligibility:

The Delhi University Mass Communication Admission is subject to well laid out criteria, which is mentioned below.
