The 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated by CUJ with vigour on January 12, on the occasion of the National Science Day.
Thousands tribute paid to Swami Vivekanada on his 153rd birth anniversary across the country. The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with great vigour and enthusiasm in the premises of Central University of Jharkhand too on January 12, 2016.
On this occasion, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ranchi, Swami Bhawishyanand visited the campus of CUJ as Chief Guest and Speaker. The programme started with lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the guest by the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jharkhand Prof. Nand Kumar Yadav ‘Indu’.
During the occasion, Swami Bhawishyanand delivered a speech on the topic ‘Vivekananda’s philosophy on education’. He said that a solution to each problem is the right kind of education. He also spoke about Vivekananda’s four pillars of education:
- Learning to know
- Learning to do
- Learning to live together
- Learning to be
Bhawishyanand donated a bunch of selective works of Swami Vivekananda to the library of the University. A booklet on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was also distributed among students.
During the session, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Nand Kumar Yadav, said if someone wants to know India then she/he should know Swami Vivekananda’s ideology. He also quoted Vivekananda’s saying in his speech that atheists are not those who have disbelief upon God; atheists are those who do not believe on themselves.
Many competitions were organised as a part of this celebration. In essay competition, the first prize was won by Sanchayan Mahato, second prize by Birju Kumar, and the third prize was jointly won by Nitish Kumar and Sudhanshu Shekhar. A 40-minute documentary based on the life of Swami Vivekananda was also screened on this occasion.
