Faculty of Management Studies, or popularly known as FMS, is the faculty of the prolific Delhi University that manages and administers management courses offered by the Delhi University. The institution was established in 1954.

The Faculty of Management Studies conducts a Delhi University FMS admission test for the MBA-Executive course by the name WAT, i.e. Written Ability Test.

Delhi University FMS Admission Test 2017

Candidates interested in pursuing MBA full-time programme or Doctoral Programme from FMS are required to take Common Admission Test, a.k.a. CAT examination. Aspirants looking for pursuing MBA-Executive programmes are meant to undergo the Written Ability Test, a.k.a. WAT, conducted by the Delhi University. The full process of respective Delhi University FMS admission test is slated as follows:

MBA Full Time Admission Process 2017

1.      CAT – Candidates eyeing for the FMS MBA full-time programme needs to take the Common Admission Test and score marks more than the cut-off score.

2.      Extempore and PI – Candidates clearing the CAT cut-off score are shortlisted for the extempore and personal interview rounds. Candidates are provided with random topics in the extempore round, on which they need to deliver an extempore. Afterwards, candidates are required to give a personal interview to a panel of judges chosen by the FMS.

3.      Counselling – Candidates clearing the extempore and the personal interview rounds are invited to attend the counselling. The MBA full-time seats are awarded during the counselling based on candidates’ combined standings of CAT examination, Extempore and PI rounds.

MBA-Executive Admission Procedure 2017

1.      Shortlisting based on the application – A panel of FMS selected personnel selects candidates based on their applications submitted for taking an admission in the MBA-Executive programme.

2.      Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview – Candidates whose applications are selected in the shortlisting round are required to take the Written Ability Test, a.k.a. WAT, conducted by the FMS. The written test is followed by a personal interview round.

3.      Counselling – Candidates selected after the WAT-PI round are eligible for counselling. The MBA-Executive seats are awarded to candidates based on their overall performance in the WAT and PI rounds, plus the authenticity of their submitted application.

Doctoral Programme Admission Process 2017

1.      CAT or Shortlisting based on the application – For providing admissions for FMS Doctoral Programme, candidates are qualified for the second round of the admission process (i.e. Personal Interview round) in two ways. First, a selection based on the submitted applications and second, CAT score.

2.      Personal Interview – A panel of FMS reviews candidates during this round.

3.      Counselling – Shortlisted candidates in the personal interview round are awarded seats in the counselling round.

Delhi University FMS Admission Test Eligibility 2017

Candidates interested in pursuing the MBA full-time course from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi must complete their Bachelor’s Degree in any stream. The eligibility criteria required for appearing in the respective Delhi University FMS Admission Test for respective FMS courses is summed up as follows:

MBA full-time

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in any specialisation from Delhi University or any other recognised institution with minimum 50% marks (45% for non-General candidates) or equivalent CGPA.

Note: - Candidates appearing in the final year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply for Delhi University FMS Admission Test for MBA full-time.

MBA-Executive (Evening Programme)

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in any specialisation from Delhi University or any other recognised institution with minimum 45% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • At least 5 years of work experience as an Executive or Administrator at a commercial/ government/ registered organisation after completing the Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A sponsorship certificate or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the present employer of the candidate.

MBA-Executive Health Care Administration (Evening Programme)

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in any one of the disciplines, including Alternative Systems of Medicine, Anthropology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Dentistry, Genetics, Genomics, Medicine, Nursing, Paramedical Discipline, Pharmacology and Zoology, from Delhi University or any other recognised institution with minimum 45% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • At least 5 years of work experience as an Executive or Administrator at a commercial/ government/ registered organisation after completing the Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A sponsorship certificate or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the present employer of the candidate.

Eligibility for Doctoral Programme 2017

  • A Master degree with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA or grade/ M.Phil degree with minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA or grade
  • A postgraduate degree in an allied subject with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA or grade from Delhi University or any other recognised institution.
  • Candidates with an MBA or Master’s degree in an allied subject completed from Delhi University or any other recognised institution are required to:

             (a) Take the CAT exam.


             (b) Produce a work experience of at least two years as an Executive or an Administrator at a commercial or government or registered                                  organisation after completing the postgraduate degree in order to give the Delhi University FMS admission test.

  • A written notification of study leave of two full years to fulfil the residency requirements of the programme by permanent teachers of any recognised college or university (other than the Delhi University)/ Employees or sponsored candidates by the employees of a Research Institute of India.

Note: - Candidates that have completed a (a) Bachelor’s degree of 4 years or more, such as B.Tech. with 70% marks or equivalent CGPA or grade; or (b) MBBS with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA or grade with any national level fellowships are eligible for the Delhi University FMS admission test for Doctoral Programme.
