Delhi University PG admission 2017 has already started. The University of Delhi is one of the prestigious universities of India. It offers various PG courses in different streams. Candidates looking forward to completing their post graduation from this reputed university can apply for admission to LLB, M.Ed., B.P.E.D, B.Ed, M.Sc, M.Tech and various other postgraduate courses available at DU. The university conducts entrance exams every year to grant admission in postgraduate courses at DU. Candidates who wish to seek admission into different colleges under DU will have to go through the entrance examination. Given below are all the details about DU PG admission 2017.

Admission procedure for DU PG Courses:

Application form:

Aspirants wishing to seek admission in any course under the Delhi University have to fill the DU 2017 application form. 50% seats of the PG programmes will be filled by direct admission of the students of DU and the remaining 50% seats will be filled through the entrance exam plus interviews. 

Registration:

All the candidates seeking admission to the Postgraduate/Master’s courses are required to register online. Registration for all the PG Courses will start from May 31, 2017.

Steps for Registration:

  • Visit the official web portal of Delhi University.
  • Click on the “Register Here” button under the “New User?” option on the website.
  • Enter a valid email ID and the password of a maximum of 6 characters.
  • Enter a valid mobile phone number (10 digit number without any prefix).
  • Fill your details (given in the certificates) in the respective columns.
  • Before submitting, verify all the details. No changes or modifications can be done after the submission of application form.
  • A verification email will be sent to the given email ID with a confirmation link. Click to confirm the registration.

After registering yourself, log on to the PG admission portal to fill the online registration form and pay the fees. Check PG fee structure in DU here.

Documents required at the time of application:

  • Passport size photograph, max size 50KB and dimensions 100px (min. width) X 130px (min. height)
  • Signature, max size 50KB and dimensions 140px (min. width) X 60px (min. height)
  • ID Proof (Self Attested), max size 100KB, any one of the following
  • Aadhaar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter's Identity Card, Passport, College Identity Card.
  • Class 10th Certificate (Self Attested) as Date of Birth proof, max size 100KB.
  • Caste Certificate (Self Attested), max size 100KB.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The eligibility criteria for each programme are different. Candidates will have to complete graduation in their specific field from any recognized university.
  • There is no minimum age bar for admission to the postgraduate courses in the University except in the courses where the respective regulatory bodies, such as Medical Council of India (MCI), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), etc. have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their regulations.

Reservation Policy:

Reservation of seats shall be in the following manner:

  • Scheduled Caste   = 15% of total intake in each course
  • Scheduled Tribe = 7.5 % of total intake in each course
  • Other Backward Classes = 27% of total intake in each course

Supernumerary Seats:

  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) = 3% of total intake 
  • Children/Widows of the eligible Armed Forces Personnel including Para Military Forces (CW Category) = 5% of the seats in each course.
  • Sports: Up to 5% of total intake in each postgraduate course.

Registration Process for Foreign Nationals:

  • The foreign nationals seeking admission in the University/its colleges must register with the Foreign Students Registry (FSR) in compliance with the schedule notified by the FSR.
  • No Foreign student will be admitted directly by the Department/Colleges. All the categories of foreign students shall come under the same category of 5% quota for foreign nationals for admission.

Exam Pattern of DU Entrance Examination:

The question paper shall be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type, except for some of the foreign language courses including Persian which may have short-answer questions also.

Syllabus of DU Entrance Exam:

The syllabus for the entrance examination of each postgraduate course will be based on B.A./B.Com/B.Sc. (or equivalent) syllabus of the University of Delhi or/and given on the respective Department’s website.

Availability of Admit Card:

Admit card will be available from June 2017 on the official web portal of Delhi University.

Documents required in the DU Entrance Exam:

Candidate shall carry the following documents to the Examination Centre:

  • Printed copy of the Admit Card.
  • One ID bearing candidate’s photograph, for verification.

Results of the DU Entrance Examination:

Results of DU Entrance Examination will be declared in the first week of July 2017 (Tentative). The admission will be based on merit list and candidates will be allotted to various colleges under DU accordingly.
