Eligibility Criteria for DU Distance Learning Programmes 2017

To seek admission in the Delhi University Distance Courses, you must meet the below-mentioned general eligibility criteria:

·         For undergraduate programmes –

o   Candidates must have passed class 12th (10+2 scheme) exam by CBSE or any other equivalent exam.

o   Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying exam. However, this condition varies for students from other categories who get a relaxation of 5% to 10% according to the category norms.

o   The minimum marks requirement also varies asper the courses available for a particular year as well as the number of seats available in each course.

·         For postgraduate programmes –

·         Mode of admission: While most Delhi University Distance Courses have merit-based admission, some postgraduate courses require candidates to appear in the entrance exam.

·         Application procedure: Students interested in applying for UG/PG courses at SOL can follow this procedure of application –

o   Candidates should visit the official website of School of Open Learning to apply for the admission in Delhi University Distance Courses 2017.

o   They should register themselves on the website to fill in the application form for admission to the desired course.

o   Candidates should furnish all the required details correctly in the online application for the admission and then pay the requisite course fee before submitting their admission form. The fee may slightly vary for each course and as per the candidate category.

o   Candidates will need to upload all the required documents online during the application form completion. Thus, they should be ready with the scanned copies of all such documents and their photographs before starting to fill in the admission form for Delhi University Distance Courses.

o   After the form submission, UG candidates can download their fee receipts. They can also download their identity cards after a few days of admission.However, PG candidates will get their identity card only after they clear the entrance exam and become eligible for final admissions.

·         Offline applications:While most candidates will only have the online mode of submitting their applications for Delhi University Distance Courses 2017, the offline process is open in PWD, BPL, NHE, and FSR cases. However, this option is only available at the North Campus SOL.

·         Course fee: The course fee to be submittedat the time of admission to UG and PG Delhi University Distance Coursesis described below. Please note that it is the predicted annual course fee as per the previous session admissions and is applicable to students who are Indian nationals residing in India. For candidates from other categories described by the university, the course fee may be significantly lower or higher. There may also be some additional fees apart from the admission fee.

·         Final Admission:

o   Undergraduate courses – For UG courses in Delhi University Distance Education, students are directly admittedif they meet the eligibility criteria. However, their online or offline admission applications lead to their provisional admission until their eligibility is checked and all their documents are verified.

o   Postgraduate courses –For PG courses in Delhi University Distance Education, applications are invited online with a deposit of just the registration fee at the time of application form submission. While General/OBC candidates pay a registration fee of INR 500, the SC/ST/PwD candidates pay a fee of INR 250.

While the merit-based Delhi University Distance Coursesdo not require candidates to give an entrance exam, the entrance-based course admissions are done according to the ranks obtained by candidates in the exam results. However, all the candidates are given admissions after their eligibility is verified.
