The Delhi University (DU) may conduct its undergraduate admissions in the month of March, which is two months in advance, in order to avoid the last minute rush and confusion.
DU is likely to begin its UG admissions in March end 2017 and it will go on till mid June. The idea behind starting the admission process early is to give students enough time to register online for colleges as soon as the board results are out. Until last year, the admission process at DU used to start in the month of May and go on till mid-June, where students would get just about three weeks to complete the registration process.
Official sources told Hindustan Times, they are planning to begin the registration process from March end, and students can start filling their details. Once the board results are out, the students can upload their marks and submit the forms.
This change is being made to avoid any last minute chaos and confusion among students. This move will also benefit those who are taking a year’s gap and students from other boards that announce their results before CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).
The procedure and method of filling the application forms, uploading certificates and marks will remain the same. All details except for the board marks can be filled in advance and once the board marks are declared, students can upload their marks and submit the form before or on the last date of submission.
Candidates who want to check their expected college for admission in Delhi University 2017 can use DU College predictor 2017.
The schedule for the admission process is yet to be announced.
Last year, the entire admission process was made fully online. Students filled online registration forms and uploaded their marks and photographs.
An admission committee appointed by the vice-chancellor will submit this plan along with a host of suggestions to a standing committee for approval. The official source said that the plan will have to be approved by the academic and executive council to get executed.
DU may also start conducting entrance tests for commerce courses starting this year. There may be entrance tests for B.Com (Hons) and B.A. (programme) starting this year.
Currently, DU conducts entrance tests for admission to its postgraduate and professional courses, and UG admissions take place on the basis of Class 12 marks.
