Now Ph. D students in University of Delhi can give their VIVA via Skype or other modes of video conferencing.

Ph. D
Scholars pursuing Ph. D at University of Delhi (DU) can now appear for their VIVA through Skype or other modes of video conferencing. The DU has also made it mandatory that the thesis submitted by the Ph. D scholars pass a 'plagiarism check' and has procured specialised softwares for it.
Earlier, students had to appear in person for their VIVA for Ph. D programmes. It posed a bigger problem for students who had completed their thesises and were offered any opportunities abroad, they had to travel back for the process.
Following directives from the University Grants Commission (UGC), to discourage plagiarism in Ph. D thesis, DU has made it mandatory that all the thesis submitted be subjected to plagiarism check using specialised softwares.
The varsity has also increased the time span for completing Ph. D from 4 years to 6.5 years.

University of Delhi (DU) is one of India's premiere universities in India offering UG, PG & Doctorate level courses across Humanities, Science & Commerce streams. DU has separate departments for all faculties and they offer niche courses to students.
