As the admission season is in full swing in Delhi University (DU), sports quota is something that draws the attention and too many queries. Oftentimes, it is said that sports and ECA quota is the best way out for those who somehow can’t afford to manage higher marks to secure seats in desired courses in DU.

It’s worth mentioning here that to give the fair amount of chance to students with special abilities, creative minds and those with considerable experience in the field, DU offers 5 percent quota in of the total seats available in each course through ECA. However, there are some changes made this year to give admission via sports and ECA quotas easier to students.

From this year onward, students are required to fill in the centralised OMR form other than applying to colleges of their choice. Once the registration is done, fitness test will be conducted and the qualifying students will get a certificate. After this, students have to face trials in colleges to get admissions in various courses.

Earlier, Polo ground used to be the venue for the centralised test. This year, DU has authorised a few colleges are authorised to conduct the fitness test that will take place on the different dates. This will help ensure no students lose any opportunity. This further nullifies the need on the part of students to run around as university used to conduct trials for one game in one college.

The best part is students can use marks obtained in this trial to apply in all colleges that come under ECA quota. All that students need to keep in mind is that DU will designate colleges for trial in each sport and students should be there on the prescribed date to undertake the test.

The sports admission committee will oversee the trial and students will get 50 marks for trial and 50 for winning and participation certificate. Also, know that school, zonal, state, national, and international certificates will get preference. It is imperative for students to obtain 25 marks in the trial to be admitted under the quota and those who have represented India in international games will get direct admission.
