The University Institute of Engineering and Technology

While all the above-stated colleges are affiliated to Kurukshetra University, UIET or University Institute of Engineering and Technology is a college operating directly under the university administration. It was set up in 2004 to be a Centre of Excellence. Unlike other engineering colleges under Kurukshetra University, UIET is located in the university campus itself. The institute offers the following engineering courses:

·         Undergraduate programmes: B-Tech in the disciplines of computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, and biotechnology engineering

·         Postgraduate programmes: M-Tech in the disciplines of computer engineering, software engineering, electronics and communication engineering, thermal engineering, electrical engineering, biotechnology engineering, material science and technology engineering, and industrial and production engineering

·         Doctoral programmes: PhD in the disciplines of computer science engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and biotechnology engineering

UIET is the central agency for several matters related to all engineering colleges under Kurukshetra University. These matters may relate to the examination scheme development, academic planning and syllabus, and standards maintenance in the university-affiliated colleges. Eligibility Criteria for Admission in KU Engineering Colleges

·         B-Tech programmes: If you want to get admission in a B-Tech course in one of the engineering colleges under Kurukshetra University, then you should have passed10+2 from a recognised board/university. You should have had physics and maths as compulsory subjects, along with one subject out of chemistry, biotechnology, computer science, and biology. Please note that the subject condition may differ from one college to another.

·         B-Tech (lateral entry) programmes: While you can apply for a regular B-Tech programme if you have passed a 3-yeardiploma in engineering/technology, you can also get a lateral entry with this qualification. This demands a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate of all semesters. You may alternatively have done a diploma of 2 years after 10+2, with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate of all semesters. Another eligibility condition is of passing a 3-year B.Sc. degree course, with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate with maths as a subject. Please note that these conditions and the availability of these courses may vary by college.

·         M-Tech programmes: If you want to go for an M-Tech course from one of the engineering colleges under Kurukshetra University, then you should have done a Bachelor’s course in engineering/technology. You should also have cleared the GATE exam.

·         PhD programmes: You can go for a PhD course in a specific engineering discipline if you have completed a Master’s degree course in engineering/technology.

Getting Admission in KU Engineering Colleges

To pursue a B-Tech course from UIET or another affiliated college, you can submit an application if you meet all the eligibility conditions stated by Kurukshetra University. The admission in any of the engineering colleges under Kurukshetra University will take place based on your JEE Main scores through the Haryana State Counselling Society. You can keep a choice of the engineering discipline(s) and colleges in which you prefer to take admission. For M-Tech courses, your GATE scores are considered for admission.
