The finance forum of N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research graced by the eminent scholars from reputed industries!
A knowledge enriching intensive seminar was successfully conducted by N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research in presence of eminent dignitaries on December 18, 2015.
The Finance Forum of NLDIMSR was swiftly expounded by keynote the speaker Mr. Shrikant Kaundinya, AVP – Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) and Mr. Satyajit Chattopadhyay; AVP- training, certification and education; MCX.
The speaker gave insights on Commodity Markets in India, about their evolution and developments since then. The discussion covered areas such as number and nature of commodities traded, benefits of trading in commodity derivatives, regulations, risk management practices and factors affecting commodity valuations.
He also educated the students in detail about commodity derivatives, the value they add to the Indian commodities market and the role of SEBI as a regulator. The speaker emphasized that if the farmers become more aware about the functioning of these markets they can benefit from the transparency in price and ease of trade that these markets offer.
December 19, 2015 witnessed a knowledge elevating session by Mr. Kushal Maheshwari, Head - Treasury, Bajaj Corp Limited, on the topic Treasury Management.
He discussed the importance of treasury departments of different organizations in various sectors such as information technology, pharmaceutical, FMCG, infrastructure and manufacturing. Sir explained the management of cash flows by the treasury manager and also gave an idea about how a treasury department functions on a day to day basis.
Mr. Maheshwari gave an overview of how the treasury department of a company determines the capital structure that is, the proportion of equity, debt or hybrid financial instruments to be used. He emphasized that a treasury manager keeps himself updated with the current happenings in the economy and markets. He also explained the effect of various macroeconomic indicators such as the policy rates, exchange rates, global markets etc. on treasury management. In the light of recent major events, he explained the implications of Yuan devaluation and Fed rate hike on Indian markets such as the debt, equity, forex, commodity and mutual funds.
One of the exemplary speakers from the industry, Mr. Shrikant Kaundinya and one of the inspiring industry professionals, Mr. Kushal Maheshwari, both the guest speakerskept students engaged throughout the seminar and received a great response from the audience.
