Justice A.M. Ahmadi delivers First A.M. Khwaja Memorial Lecture at the Department of Economics, JMI
Former Chief Justice of India, Mr. A.M. Ahmadi delivered the First A.M. Khwaja Memorial Lecture at the event organized by the Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).
A book titled “Abdul Majeed Khwaja: A Biographical Narrative” was released on the occasion. It was compiled by Prof. M.H. Qureshi.
A.M. Khwaja’s grandson Mr. Rajan H Khwaja (retired civil servant) had especially flown in from Hyderabad to talk about his grandfather A.M. Khwaja on this occasion.
Justice Ahmadi highlighted how religion mixed with politics can have deadly effects on the integrity of our nation. In order to maintain the diverse culture of India, it is important to increase efforts to preserve the traditions and opinions of the people of our country. He also stressed upon the role of education in bringing about the desirable changes to seek overall development and empowerment of the citizens of India.
Mr. Rajan Khwaja shared the vision of his grandparents and also enlightened the audience about their association with Mahatma Gandhi and the role they played in well versing him with Urdu script. Mrs. Khwaja was also the founder of Hamidia Girls Inter College, Allahabad, which is now a degree college affiliated to Allahabad University.
Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI gave his presidential remarks and expressed his happiness at having Hon’ble Justice Mr. Ahmadi talk to the students who has such clear ideas about how to take the community and nation forward while also keeping our diverse values intact.
