The College of Engineering, Trivandrum, was established before independence, in 1939. It became the first engineering college in the then Travancore state.

Spanning over an area of more than 25 acres, the institution is affiliated to the University of Kerala and the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Also, its programs are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
