In order to regulate the entrance examinations properly, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has decided to introduce a common regulating body for all the entrance exams. This expert body will be called National Testing Services (NTS). The formulation of a new specialized body is being done to regulate the entrance examinations properly.

The NTS will conduct all the entrance examinations including JEE Mains, National Eligibility Test (NET), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and other national level entrance examinations. Till date, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting all these examinations.

The formation of a new expert body will help ease some pressure off CBSE. Once the National Testing Services is formed, CBSE will no longer conduct any entrance exam. CBSE will only focus and conduct examinations that are related to school education. This way they will be able to focus better on their core activities and save time.

The idea of a standardised body was raised when CBSE raised concerns about conducting entrance examinations. According to CBSE officials, conducting entrance examinations is a time consuming exercise and that because of these exams the board was not able to focus on their core activities related to affiliations and conducting its own examinations.
