IGNOU has signed an MoU with Doordarshan to revive Gyan Darshan from January 1, 2017.
Have you been missing Doordarshan’s Gyan Darshan educational channel? Here’s some good news!Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Doordarshan have entered into an agreement to revive the transmission of Gyan Darshan for educational broadcasts.
IGNOU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Doordarshan for transmission of four Gyan Darshan educational channels.
Gyan Darshan ran successfully until 2nd June 2014 but was shut down by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), as its transmission was shifted from INSAT 3C to GSAT-10.
Now, it is expected that IGNOU’s educational programmes will soon be aired through Gyan Doordarshan to help students from all sections of the society.
According to Ravi Kanth, director, electronic media centre, IGNOU, preparations are in full swing to have Gyan Darshan on air by January 1, 2017.
Deepa Chandra, deputy director (general), Doordarshan, and Sudhir Budhakoti, registrar (administration), IGNOU signed the MoU.
The signing ceremony was presided by Supriya Sahu, director general, Doordarshan and Prof Ravindra Kumar, vice-chancellor (in-charge), IGNOU.
