IGNOU OPENMAT Application Form 2018 (XLIIII)

IGNOU OPENMAT 2018 XLIII - If you are looking for pursing MBA from a reputed national university but can’t do on regular basis, IGNOU is the best option for you. Established in 1985, India Gandhi National Open University also known as IGNOU is a leading national university for distance learning. IGNOU is located in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. IGNOU offers several programs MBA courses. It is considered to be one of the most famous distance learning universities of the county. The university conducts an exam which is known as IGNOU OPENMAT, for admission to its MBA courses.

Entrance test required for IGNOU MBA Distance Admission

OPENMAT is an entrance examination which is conducted by INGOU for admission to its MBA course. The aptitude test is designed to evaluate the aptitude of the candidates in management. OPENMAT is also considered for admission to several other courses which School of Management Studies offers in management. IGNOU conducts OPENMAT twice a year generally in the months of February and August. The entrance exams for the academic year 2017 – 2018 are known as OPENMAT XLII (42nd) and OPENMAT XLIII (43rd).

Courses Covered by IGNOU OPENMAT

One can get admission in MBA along with several other courses offered by IGNOU. Followings are the diploma courses offered by the university which are covered in IGNOU OPENMAT:

 IGNOU OPENMAT Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want to apply for IGNOU OPENMAT 2018 are required to meet – out the following eligibility criteria –

  •  The candidate is required to have at least 50% marks in graduation from any discipline in general category and in reserved category, the candidate is required to have minimum 45% marks.  Along with this, the candidate is required to have three years of professional/supervisory/managerial experience.


  •  The candidate is required to have scored at least 50% marks in professional degree listed below:

Chartered accountancy (ICAI)/ medicine/ engineering/ cost and words accountancy (ICWAI)/ law and chartered secretary – ship (ICSI).

  •  Clearance of OPENMAT held by IGNOU.
  •  There is no age bar.

For Foreign Students

Foreign students who are residing in India with a valid student visa for the minimum program duration can apply for IGNOU management programs. The students need to remit the fee at par with foreign students (students can get fee structure details from International Division). International Division of University will process the admission of foreign students living in India after making sure of their antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development.

There are total 21 courses in MBA program offered by IGNOU. For every course, the fees is Rs. 1500/. Hence the total fee turns out to be 21X1500 = Rs. 31500. The courses are comprised of the following:

  •  DIM – it consists of 3 courses which are compulsory that is MS – 1 to MS – 3. There are two elective courses which are to be selected out of four elective courses (MS 4/5/6 and 7).
  •  PGDIM eleven courses (MS 1 to MS11)
  •  PGSDMs contain five courses from any one of the five specialization streams for PGDSM in that area.
  •  Integrative Module: There are two courses in this module which are compulsory MS – 91, MS – 95 and there is one elective course out of any 5 elective courses (MS – 92/93/94/96 and 97). Apart from these is a project course also. This course is equivalent to two courses. There it makes a total of 5 courses.

IGNOU accepts admission to MBA via OPENMAT entrance test which is conducted by the university twice a year. In order to appear for this text, the candidates have to fill up Application Form for OPENMAT Entrance Test (Form 1). Candidate should go through the instructions before filling the form.. Followings are the dates of the entrance test:

How to Apply for IGNOU OPENMAT

Candidates can apply for IGNOU OPENMAT via both online and offline mode.

For offline mode, candidates are required to download the application form online from the link given below. Candidates need to download it, take a print out and fill it. The form is to be sent along with a demand draft of Rs. 1,050 which is to be made from any nationalized bank in favor of IGNOU. Candidates need to post the form at the following address:

Candidates who have to apply online OPENMAT XLIII need to follow the following process:

  • The first step is to register online. You need to visit the website where you need to click on Register Now button. Select Online Admission from thee and you will be directed to home page of Online Admission System (OAS) where you will register yourself.
  • The next step is to fill the details in the application form. These details include program type, regional center, study center code, state code, medium etc.
  • You need to fill the personal details in the application form such as name, father’s name, date of birth, nationality, gender, category, territory, religion, social study, mode of study etc.
  • After submitting all the details, the next step is to upload the scanned photographs. You need to upload the scanned images of your recent photograph, signature in JPG format with size not exceeding 100KB.
  • After this, you need to pay application fee of OPENMAT XLIII. Click on Next button and you will be redirected to the payment page. There will be a dropdown button and you need to choose mode of payment from there i.e. net banking, credit card, debit card etc. You need to put details if you are making a card payment such as email ID, mobile number, card type, name on card, expiry date, CVV etc. Click on Pay button.
  • In the next step, you need to take print out of payment confirmation page for future references. You will also receive the confirmation on your mail and mobile number.

Validity of OPENMAT Score

The university will consider a student for admission based on the score obtained in OPENMAT XLIII in any of the two semesters listed below. A candidate, who qualifies in February 2018 OPENMAT, is eligible to take admission in session July 2018 or in January 2019 semester. Check the dates listed below for Application Form 2 submission:

Duration of IGNOU Management Programs

1. Maximum Duration of MBA Program

The maximum duration of MBA program offered by IGNOU is 5 years. After this, the students who are keeping fresh admission for completion of the left courses will not be required to appear for OPENMAT again. Note that, this facility is only for once. Such candidates are required to submit a separate admission form i.e. Form 3.

2. In case, if any candidate has failed to complete the requirements successfully for awarding diploma/degree in another five year duration which means 5+5=10 years, the candidate will have to take fresh admission and will have to qualify for IGNOU OPENMAT again. And he/she will not be provided any facility of credit transfer. In such cases, all the formalities would remain the same as applicable in case of any fresh candidate.

3. Students who are seeking fresh admission from January 2018 admission cycle

Old students who are seeking ‘Fresh Admission’ from January 2018 onwards by Form 3, for them the extended duration will be 5 years according to the revised rules which are applicable form January 2018. These students are required to complete all the requirements for awarding of the degree within 13 years (8+5). And, if the student fails to accomplish this, they again are required to apply for OPENMAT for fresh admission and will have to do the courses again. They won’t be given any facility of any credit exemption or credit transfer facility.
