The Post Graduate programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) being offered by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) aims at strengthening the public policy and managerial skills of future leaders and senior managers from the civil services; and professionals from social, infrastructure and private sectors. The liberalization has blurred the boundary between the public and private as more sectors like infrastructure, utilities and services have got opened up. PPP (Private -Public- Partnership) is the new name of the game. It's a unique program where professionals from government and from the non-government sector come together in a classroom.

About Post Graduate programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM)
The PGPPM was flagged off in 2001 from the Centre for Public Policy (CPP), which was established by IIMB with initial support from Department of Personnel and Training, GOI, and UNDP. The main aim of CPP is to develop as an alternate think tank through excellence in research and scholarship, and education and training. PGPPM was started to fulfill the niche for an educational programme in public policy in India for the officers from government.
It was extended to open candidates in the year 2008. Considerable synergies exist among private and public sectors, and we expect the class room experience to enable cross learning. PGPPM proposes to attract overseas participants from current year, and has added another dimension to the learning experience.
The Programme is residential in the first year and in the second year the participants continue their dissertation from their work places. In the first year they undergo courses in public policy and general management along with electives in their chosen area of interest. In the second year they are expected to complete their dissertation.
The programme provides conceptual, technical and analytical skills in public policy making. The programme will help in appreciating forces shaping the domestic and international environment for public policy It also enhances soft skills in leadership, decision making, communication, etc.
The participants will be undertaking a dissertation which will help them to specialize in the chosen area in public policy field.
