IIM Shillong PGP Admission Criteria 2018-20

IIM Shillong is also known as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong. IIM Shillong is a public and fully autonomous management. The institute is the 7th IIM which was established by the Indian government in 2007. The institute provides several management courses including post – graduate, doctoral, executive programs etc. in management education and Management Development Programs (MDPs). In order to get admission in this institute, one needs to clear Common Admission Test (CAT). Here in this article, we will discuss about IIM Shillong PGP Admission Criteria 2018-20.

The candidates will qualify CAT exam, will be considered for participation in the admission process. There will be two phases in the admission criteria of IIM Shillong. As per the admission guidelines of Indian Institute of Shillong, the exam authority will release the first list of candidates shortlisted for group discussion and personal interview rounds. It will be based on percentile of CAT 2017. Whereas the second phase of admission criteria at IIM Shillong, a final merit list will be prepared for admission to PGP programs. The institute will give specific weightage to group discussion and personal interview rounds for preparing the merit list. As per the trends, it is expected that the institute may release its final merit list by the fourth week of April, 2018. CAT 2017 was conducted on 26th November.

Stages of IIM Shillong PGP Admission Criteria 2018-20

As we mentioned above, there are two stages in the admission criteria of IIM Shillong for PGP batch 2018-20. These phases/stages are described below:

Stage 1 of IIM Shillong Admission Criteria 2018

In the very first stage of IIM Shillong Admission criteria, the candidates will be shortlisted for next rounds including group discussion and personal interview.   • All the candidates are eligible for stage 1 who have chosen IIM Shillong in CAT 2017 application. The table shows the minimum marks which are required for consideration in different categories.
  • The institute will segregate the candidates who obtained following A, according to their academic disciplines in their graduation as they mentioned in CAT 2017. The next, candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic profile for group discussion and personal interview rounds.  
  • The candidates, who are resulted from the step A in their categories, will then be separated into several sub – groups, on the basis of their respective academic profiles of their graduation which they have mentioned in CAT data.
  • On the basis of CAT 2017, the institute will prepare a shortlist including X number of candidates for group discussion and personal interview round. The number of candidates will be on the basis of their overall performance in CAT 2017, on the basis of seat availability, possible overall and the past attendance trends etc.
  • The institute will rank the candidates in any category, gender, academic discipline considering their overall CAT 2017 score.

Stage 2 of IIM Shillong Admission Criteria 2018-20

 In the second stage of Indian Institute of Management Shillong, the institute will consider the scores of the candidates which they have obtained in group discussion and personal interview rounds along with the overall performance in CAT for preparing the merit list. Then, the cut off scores for group discussion and personal interview will be decided for the merit list.

 As per the scores in the merit list, the candidates will be graded ranks in the decreasing order of scores obtained. The institute will offer admission to the candidates in the order of the ranks given in the merit list.

Reservation Policy at IIM Shillong

The Institute follows the reservation policy as per the rules and regulations of Government of India.

Note:

  •  The criteria for selection process as discussed in the document are decided based on the pattern and performance trends of the past years’ CAT data of candidates, who had applied to this institute. In case, there is a considerable change in the performance and profile of the candidates in CAT 2017 applying to the institute, the institute reserves the right to change and or to modify the aforesaid criteria.
  • All the candidates who are given admission to Post – Graduate Programs for 2018-20 session are required to complete their graduation by 31st December 2018.
  • Please note that IIM Shillong short – lists of the candidates for group discussion and personal interview are independent of those of other IIMs. Hence it is possible to observe variations in the lists of candidates short listed by the different IIMs.
  • Short listed candidates would be intimated through IIMS website (www.iimshillong.ac.in), e mail (as provided in CAT application form) and by SMS. Shortlisted candidates are required to fill in the interview form and upload the same on IIM Shillong website. IIM Shillong would send GD and PI call letters/interview letters to those shortlisted candidates who correctly fill in the interview form in the stipulated time. No communication would be sent to the applicants who are not shortlisted for the group discussion and personal interview round.
  • Candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website of IIM Shillong. (www.iimshillong.ac.in)
  • Candidates, who appear in the group discussion and personal interview will be able to view whether they have been offered admission by IIM Shillong, tentatively by the fourth week of April 2018 by visiting the website.
  • Any dispute concerning admission to PGP 2018-20 would be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of Shillong.
