CAT is a pre-requisite for admission to various programmes offered at IIMs and other reputed management institutes across the country. While CAT is just the first step to getting into any IIM, the candidate must also fulfill a few other requirements to bag a seat at the prestigious B-School.

IIM Shillong has its own eligibility criteria and selection procedure for shortlisting candidates for its two post-graduate management courses namely, Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and Post Graduate Programme for Executives.

The sectional cutoff of CAT 2016 exam has been fixed at 70 percentile, while the minimum percentage in graduation should be 65 percent.

IIM Shillong Selection Process for Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP):

IIM-I adopts a two-stage filter when it comes to shortlisting candidates for PGP:

Stage 1:

A list of candidates who qualify through CAT is declared for the Writing Skills Assessment Test (WSAT) and Personal Interview (PI).

Stage 2:

A final merit list is prepared based on which admission to the programme is offered.

In the case of overseas candidates, the applications will be scrutinised by the Admission Committee and the candidates who will be shortlisted will be called for Writing Skills Aptitude Test followed by Personal Interview (PI) based on the scholastic performance, GMAT scores, and work experience (if any).

The final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in all the parameters used by the IIM. The final list of the selected candidates will be tentatively released in the month of April/first week of May.

IIM Shillong Selection Procedure for Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX) Programme:

  • The institute will shortlist the candidate based on the academic record and performance in the qualifying examinations mentioned above.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be called for participating in an Executive Assessment Centre (EAC).
