To make students adept at their management skills, IIM Shillong tries to make its students network and interact with new people at its Golf Cup at the Shillong Golf Course. Read on!

IIM Shillong Students Network Through Golf

It is imperative for every management student to be proficient in interaction and networking skills. While they meet new people, they must know the basics of striking a conversation. To ensure this happens, IIM Shillong organized its ninth season of Golf Cup at the Shillong Golf Course and let the management students connect with industry professionals. About 130 professional and amateur golfers from across the country attended the event, which also included guests from various ministries, people from corporate sector and armed forces.

This tournament gave many opportunities to the students wanting to interact with eminent industrialists and people from corporate sectors. The participating companies included top-notch companies like Titan Company Ltd, Axis Bank, Wipro, Goldman Sachs and many others.

This well-woven event facilitates industry-academia participation and encourages professionals to look ahead. It not only gave students a platform to interact but also made them organize this event. They learned to work under pressure, manage teams, work within teams and peers with different temperaments, manage finances and many other tasks. The students endured sleepless nights, managed hectic week of balancing class and work and frenzied preparation to make this event a success.

IIM Shillong emerged as winners of YES Bank Transformation Series 2016 that provided a grueling test to India’s future business leaders to think beyond the usual. This platform offered an excellent opportunity to aspiring young entrepreneurs and business leaders across the country. This platform tests the students’ mettle in the process of creative skills, innovative thinking and apply their knowledge into the real business challenges.
