IIM-A To Start Centre in Dubai

India's leading management institute IIM Ahmedabad is going to open its first extension centre in Dubai. The business school has signed an MoU with UAE's BRS Ventures to start the overseas centre. The centre will commence its operations at the new centre in June with executive education programmes relevant to the region. The institute has decided to offer both open learning and customized training programmes to the students applying for admission.

Talking about the new venture, Errol D'Souza, director of IIM Ahmedabad, said, "We are very happy to partner with BRS Ventures, given their distinguished services to the UAE as well as deep understanding of the region and its priorities. This will help IIM-A implement the planned activities and programmes successfully."

"For an institute with global footprint of alumni, it is important to have physical presence beyond the national borders. The UAE has been the gateway and hub for MENA region's business connect with the world."

He further added, "With the synergy, this partnership is expected to benefit both the organisations, besides benefiting the UAE regional business and governance."

The MoU was signed at the annual event, the World Government Summit 2018, which was organized in Dubai. The summit brings together leaders in government for a global discussion on government process and policies with the attention to the issues of futurism, technology and innovation.

Talking about the same, BR Shetty, chairman at BRS Ventures stated, "The IIMA Extension Centre will immediately benefit UAE and MENA regions' economies, public policies, executive skills and industry overall. Later, when longer-duration programmes are launched, the graduating students will be entitled for preferred employment at our own diversified businesses."

IIM-A said that the B-School will offer academic and training expertise while BRS Venture will help the students and the institute with other requirements like infrastructure, logistics and industry links.

IIM-A also ensured that the programmes offered at the newly started extension centre in Dubai will be globally relevant. The learners trained here will not be restricted to any specific region. To ensure that the learners get ample career opportunities on completion of the course, the institute has designed a learning environment of international culture setting.
