IISB Announces the List of Candidates for ‘Summer School and Internship Programme’

‘Summer School and Internship Programme’ will commence from May 16, 2016 at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Summer School and Internship Programme
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in order to increase the awareness and interest on Computer Systems Research among the students, will host a combined ‘Summer School and Internship Programme’ between May 16 and July 16, 2016.
 
The internship programme is designed for undergraduate students studying in the III year of B.E./B.Tech in the Computer Science discipline. This programme is jointly organised by a few faculty of IITs and IISc.
 
 
The Programme at a Glance:
 
The programme will comprise of one summer school which includes 1 - 2 weeks of lectures and hands-on assignments on Computer Architecture and High-Performance Computing. It will be followed by a summer internship for 5-6 weeks with one of the participating faculty at IITs/IISc, where students will be exposed to some projects in high-performance computing or architecture.
 
Topics to Cover:
 
  • Memory Hierarchy
  • ILP Processors
  • Multiprocessor/multi-cores
  • Memory consistency and cache coherence
  • GPUs and Manycores
  • CUDA (or OpenCL) programming
 
Venue for Internship:
 
Summer project and internship place will be the same.
 
Eligibility Criteria:
 
The internship is open to all B.E./B.Tech students from reputed engineering colleges, however, preferences will be given to III year students from CS
Students from IT/EE/ECE disciplines in III year, or II year CS students will also be considered if they have sufficient background
Students who are interested in pursuing project work in High Performance Computing and Architecture need apply.
