Joint Admission Test for M.Sc 2018 will be conducted by IIT Bombay on February 11, 2018 (Sunday). The details of IIT JAM 2018 exam is given here.

IIT JAM 2018- IITs and IISc conduct Joint Admission Test for M.Sc for offering admission of eligible students to in M.Sc (Four Semesters), M.Sc.-M.Tech., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree & other courses. IIT Bombay will conduct the IIT JAM 2018, an open exam for all Indian and Foreign nationals, on February 11, 2018 (Sunday) in two sessions. The online registration to take the IIT JAM Exam has been started from September 05, 2017. Eligible candidates can apply online till October 10, 2017 (Tuesday) to take the exam. IIT JAM 2018 Eligibility

Candidates who are willing to take the JAM examination should have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks for all General/OBC-NCL categories. Candidates who belong to SC/ST and PwD Category should have at least 50% aggregate marks in their graduation.

Appearing candidates can also apply however; they have to submit a proof of passing the Qualifying Degree till September 2018.

IIT JAM 2018 Application Form

Aspirants can apply for the exam through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) will be made available by IIT Bombay from 05 September 2017. Candidates who satisfy all the eligibility conditions can apply online for the examination till 10 October 2017. Alongside, candidates have to upload the necessary documents and submit the application fee through online mode. In complete application form will not be accepted in any case.

IIT JAM 2018 Exam Pattern

JAM 2018 examination will be conducted in seven subjects, also referred to as Test Papers, of Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Mathematics (MA), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).

  •  It is a Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • The medium for all seven test papers will be English only
  • The duration of the IIT JAM examination will be 3 hours.
  • There will be a total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks.

IIT JAM 2018 Syllabus

Biological Sciences (BL)- General Biology, Basics of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Buffers, Structure of biomolecules, thermodynamics and kinetics of biological systems

Biotechnology (BT)-The paper contains Biology (44% weightage), Mathematics (18% weightage), Chemistry (20% weightage), and Physics (18% weightage). Biology (10+2+3 level), Chemistry (10+2+3 level), Mathematics (10+2 level), Physics (10+2 level)

Chemistry (CY)- Basic Mathematical Concepts, Atomic and Molecular Structure, Theory of Gases, Solid state, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical and Phase Equilibria, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Adsorption, Spectroscopy, Organic Chemistry and Stereochemistry, Organic Reaction Mechanism and Synthetic Applications, Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Transition Metals, Main Group, Bioinorganic Chemistry and more.

Geology (GG)- The Planet Earth, Geomorphology, Structural Geology, Palaeontology, Stratigraphy, Mineralogy, Petrology, Economic Geology, Applied Geology.

Mathematics (MA)- Sequences and Series of Real Numbers, Functions of One Real Variable, Functions of Two or Three Real Variables, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis.

Mathematical Statistics (MS)- The Mathematical Statistics (MS) paper consists Mathematics (40% weightage) and Statistics (60% weightage). Mathematics comprises of Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Matrices, Sequences and Series. Statistics comprises of Probability, Random Variables, Standard Distributions, Joint Distributions, Limit Theorems and more.

Physics (PH)- Mathematical Methods, Mechanics and General Properties of Matter, Oscillations, Waves and Optics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics, Kinetic theory, Thermodynamics, Solid State Physics, Devices and Electronics.

IIT JAM 2018 Admit Card

The JAM admit card will be released for the applicants in the month of January 2018. Candidates whose application forms will be accepted can download the admit card from the official website of JAM 2018. We will also host the link of admit card to ease the downloading process. The admit card contains the Candidate’s Name, Photograph, Signature, Registration Number, and Test Centre details. In case of any discrepancy, candidates are advised to immediately contact to the exam conducting authority. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre without admit card.

IIT JAM 2018 Answer Keys

IIT Bombay will issue the official answer keys of JAM a few days after the commencement of the examination. JAM answer key contains the list of correct answers to questions asked in the examination. Candidates have to match their response with the issued answer keys. To every correctly marked response, candidates should give positive marks and for every wrong answer they have to deduct the respective negative marks. Answer keys help candidates to calculate the estimated scores. Candidates can file an objection if they find and discrepancy in the answer key within a specified time period.

IIT JAM 2018 Result

The result will be announced in the month of March 2017. To get the result details like AIR (All India Rank and Merit list), candidates has to visit the official website of JAM. We will also host the result link on this page to simplify the process. No hardcopy of the score card will be sent to the candidates. Only qualified candidates will be called for the counselling process.

IIT JAM 2018 Counselling

In counselling process, all the documents will be verified and a seat offered according to the scores and rank of the candidates. Separate admission forms will be issued after declaration of result for JAM counselling. The seat allotment list will be issued on the basis of choices filled in the admission form and JAM scores. The counselling process will commence in April 2018.
