IIM-C students spread wings towards US and Germany; Gain helpful insights

The recently-concluded PGEPEX international immersion programme was a one-of-its-kind experience for students of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC). The batch of PGPEX 2015-16, went for immersion programmes in two groups to Mannheim Business School, Germany, and Foster School of Business, Seattle.

The immersion programmes began simultaneously on August 3 and concluded on August 14. The immersion programme will give the students global exposure of international business markets.

The students at Mannheim Business School had the opportunity to understand the strategies and organisational structure of the European Central Bank (ECB).
 

They visited Karche (high pressure cleaning products) which is spread worldwide, and understood how they maintain strong employee base worldwide. The visit to Technoseum Ger many's helped them understand industrial evolution since the 18th century. Visit to the Mercedes Museum helped them understand the brand development, product quality and customer loyalty aspects of business. A visit to BASF at Ludwigshafen, which is largest chemical company, helped them witness complexity of managing such big plants.

The students at Foster School of Business had Industry visits to two of the Fortune 500 companies - Boeing and Paccar. They visited manufacturing plants of Boeing 747, 777 and 787 planes and understood their safety, competitive and design aspects. They visited PACCAR's Kenworth plant, which is a global technology leader in the manufacture, design and customer support of premium light, medium and heavy duty trucks.
