School for Democracy in association with Indraprastha College for Women organised a lecture by Bezwada Wilson on August 24, 2016.
Mr. Wilson delivered his lecture on ‘Manual Scavenging: Stark Reality of Untouchability and Patriarchy’.
While India spends thousands of crores on flagship programmes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Indian Railways and many other departments of Central and State governments continue to employ manual scavengers, openly flouting the law of the land.
Ramon Magsaysay awardee of 2016, Bezwada Wilson of the Safai Karmchari Andolan, has been working on the elimination of manual scavenging and emancipation of manual scavengers for more than two decades.
