Three of the older IITs are going to launch an inter-IIT exchange programme, starting this autumn semester.
IITs are following the examples of foreign semester exchange programmes. As part of this exchange programme, students will be spending one whole semester at the host institute and will have full access to the centres of excellence and learn all that it has to offer, at other IITs.
In the first year of the programme, only two selected students will be allowed to go to another IIT for a semester. Eventually, institutes can send and host up to four students. The students will have to pay the fee amount to their home institutes only, although they’ll have to bear the living expenses at their host institute.
This move had been a long and pending proposal, and this is the first time that the IITs have come together for an academic collaboration of this kind.
