Post the first counseling session of JEE Advanced 2015; Computer Science has come up as the most popular course at IIT Mumbai yet again

Joint Seat Allocation Authorities (JoSAA) conducted the first round of the counseling session for applicants clearing JEE Advanced 2015 on 7th July 2015. The students were expected to fill out their choice of courses in the participating institutes online between July 1- July 5. Acceptance of seats from the first round of allocation is to be held between July 8- July 12. Click here for the full allotment list.

Among all the choices filled out, Computer Science emerged as the most popular and sought after course between the Top 200 ranks of JEE Advanced 2015. Previously having been the leading course among candidates in 2014, the second was taken by Mechanical Engineering, while Electrical Engineering proved itself as the third most desired course. Overall market demand alongside high placement packages by companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and so on are the major reasons for attracting candidates to this course.

This has been the major trend among North Indian students, while Mechanical Engineering has been the preferred course among those from the Southern India.

Approximately, 1.29 Crore choices were filled in by the 1.52 Lakh candidates who registered themselves for the first round of counseling. Out of the total, 25,000 students have applied for the 10,006 seats available among the 16 IITs.

Students who have been allotted the college and course of their choice can take admission by visiting the college with the required documents such as their JEE admit card, rank card, sufficient copies of the confirmation page, 10th and 12th pass certificates and passport size photographs. Payment of fee is to be done at the college only through State Bank of India.
