JEE Advanced 2018

Conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) every year, JEE Advanced is the second level entrance exam for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master and Dual Degree programmes in all the IITs and the ISM. IIT Kanpur will conduct JEE Advanced 2018 under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2018. The exam is decided to be held on May 20, 2018, Sunday after the announcement of JEE Main 2018 results. This year, the examination will be conducted in online mode. Paper 1 will be held in the Morning session from 09:00 IST to 12:00 IST and Paper 2 will be conducted in Evening Session from 14:00 IST to 17:00 IST. The registration for JEE Advanced will be commenced from 02 May 2018 and will be concluded on 07 May 2018.

Students must not only appear for JEE Main 2018 but also be among the top 2,24,000 JEE Main 2018 qualifiers in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2018 examination. However, this number can be slightly above in the wake of two or more candidates securing the same ranks or scores in a specific category. JEE Advanced 2018 Eligibility Criteria

There will be five criteria set by the IITs, which students must satisfy to make themselves eligible for JEE advanced 2018.

Criteria Number 1

Applicants must be among the top 2,24,000 candidates, including all the categories, passing the Paper I of JEE Main 2018.

Criteria Number 2

Candidates belonging to general category must have been born on or after October 1, 1993 while there will a relaxation of five years, making it October 1, 1988, for students belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories.

Criteria Number 3

An applicant will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced examination as many as two times in consecutive years.

Criteria Number 4

The applicant should have appeared for Class 12 or any other qualifying examination in either 2017 or 2018.

Note: If any examination board declared the Class 12 or the qualifying examination result after June 2016, candidates can apply for JEE Advanced. However, such candidates must satisfy other criteria as well. And, if the examination board has declared Class 12 or the qualifying examination result before June 2016 but the candidate’s result is on hold, such candidates are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2018.

Criteria Number 5

The candidate must not have been admitted to any IIT, irrespective of whether or not s/he wishes to continue pursuing the course or have accepted the IIT seat by visiting the reporting centre in the past. However, candidates pursuing/pursued any preparatory course in any IIT can appear for JEE Advanced 2018 examination.

Candidates have to follow three steps to register for JEE Advanced 2018 exam. Below, we have mentioned for the ease of candidates-

Step 1- Online Registration

The candidate is required to visit the official portal of JEE Advanced 2018 i.e. www.jeeadv.ac.in and log in with his/her credentials.

After logging in, the applicant should enter the requisite details including the medium of the question paper (English or Hindi), preferred exam centre for JEE Advanced 2018 etc.

Step 2- Upload Documents

The second step is to upload the scanned copies of all the required documents. Applicants belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD, etc. categories are required to upload the category certificates as well.

Step 3- Pay Application Fee

The final step would be to make the payment of the prescribed application fee of JEE Advanced 2018. Candidates must note that the fee paid once, will not be refunded or transferred under any circumstances.

JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card

The JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card downloading date has been revealed now. The admit card will be released online on 14 May 2018. The JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card can only be downloaded via the online mode. The admit card will contain candidate’s name, photograph, JEE Advanced 2018 roll number, exam centre location and exam instructions etc. The candidate must verify all the details mentioned on the admit card as soon as s/he downloads it. In case of any discrepancy in the JEE Advanced 2018 admit card, the candidate is required to get in touch with IIT Kanpur – the exam conducting-body of JEE Advanced 2018.

The candidate must carry his/her JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card to the examination hall, which is to be verified by the exam invigilator. In the absence of the admit card, the candidate will not be allowed to sit for the examination.

As soon as the candidate registers himself/herself for JEE Advanced 2018, s/he must indulge himself/herself in the preparation of JEE Advanced 2018. To start the preparation, the candidate must be aware of the exam pattern of JEE Advanced 2018 and hence, we are sharing the same here:

JEE Advanced 2018 Exam Pattern

Since there has not been any official announcement regarding the changes in the exam pattern of JEE Advanced 2018, we are sharing the exam pattern one can expect in JEE Advanced 2018.

There will be two question papers namely Paper I and Paper II in JEE Advanced 2018. The duration of both the papers will be three hours each and students are required to attend both the papers.

Each paper will comprise of three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

There will be objective-type multiple-choice questions with four different options. The exam is designed to evaluate students’ analytical, reasoning and test comprehension.

The candidate will be awarded the negative mark for each incorrect answer.

The medium of JEE Advanced 2018 will be either English or Hindi. The candidate must select the preferred language while registering for JEE Advanced 2018 examination. Remember, the candidate cannot change the paper language after the registration. Hence, s/he must select the language carefully.

Since JEE Advanced is an undergraduate level examination, it will consist questions based on the 10+2 level. Check out the full syllabus here:

JEE Advanced 2018 Result

Just like every year, JEE Advanced 2018 result will be announced on 10 June 2018. The result will contain students’ All India Rank (AIR) along with the scores s/he obtained in the JEE Advanced 2018. The examination authority will upload the All India Ranks of the successful candidates on the online portal post the result declaration. Candidates are required to obtain their results by using the login id and password.

JEE Advanced 2018 Counselling

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA) will conduct the seat allotment and counselling process for JEE Advanced 2018. A number of seats will be decided once the participating institutes will provide the seat matrix.
