This year, over 12 lakh candidates will be appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination. The calculation of cutoff marks depends on several factors such as the number of candidates appeared for the examination, difficulty level of JEE Main paper and availability of seats in different institutions. Following are some of the important points that are considered while determining the expected cutoff.

1.  The cutoff depends on the availability of the seats in the different engineering institutes.

2.  The second factor is the difficulty level of the question paper. If the question paper is difficult than the previous years’ paper, it will affect the cutoff.

3.  If question paper has some errors, there will be some alterations and JEE Main Expected Cutoff by Career Point will be made accordingly.

4.  The allocation of seats to different candidates depends on the different categories and programs, depending on the cutoff.

The official JEE Main cutoff list 2017 will be provided by Central Board of School Education (CBSE), which is also responsible for conducting the exam. JEE Main cutoff sees gradual fall in last few years

If you’ve seen the previous year cutoffs, you may have noticed the gradual decrease in the common merit list for JEE Main examination from 115 to 100 last year. In 2014, the cutoff was 115, and it decrease to 105 in 2015, and further dropped to 100 in 2016.

JEE Main Expected Cutoff by Career Point would be somewhere around, or even lesser than the last year’s cutoff. The reason for this decreasing cutoff is the increasing number of annual competitions. The total number of eligible candidates for JEE Advanced exams have increased from 1,50,000 to 2,00,000 in 2016.

In 2017, the number of candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2017 exam will be 2,20,000. Although it’s difficult for many institutes to make accurate predictions due to such high competition, but JEE Main Expected Cutoff by Career Point is often correct in the prediction.
