JIM Indore Conducts Guest Session by Sangeeta Jain from Devi Ahilya University

A personality development session was hosted by the professor of Devi Ahilya University at JIM Indore.

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore organized a guest lecture where Professor Sangeeta Jain, -faculty at Institute of Management Studies, Devi Ahilya University, Indore, was invited to help the students to make improvements in their personality by focusing on one of the most important parts of organizational behaviour i.e., emotional intelligence which accounts for 80% of success at work. The session was coordinated by Dr. Manisha Shukla.
The session began with a question that ‘What is Emotional Intelligence’ where she explained that the ability to create a balance between knowing what you don’t know and that what you do know can be improved. Then, she disseminated a questionnaire to the students and asked them to score their emotional intelligence. She further explained the reason behind scoring with the help of five elements of emotional intelligence-self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy and social skills. Moving on further, she gave the tips like keep a journal to write your behaviours and inner feelings at times of stress, make a list of what you believe to be your strengths and weaknesses and then compare it with someone else, seek feedback from your peer group, try practice mindfulness in all areas of your life, identify your feelings at various points throughout the day and make active-listening your priority during conflicts.
Lastly, she explained about the five important steps essential to build strong emotional intelligence by knowing one’s ideal self, real self, learning agenda, practicing it and coming out as a competent person.So,only those people who have high emotional intelligence will be more successful than people with high intelligence.
 This session of learning and great insights came to an end, Dr.Manisha Shukla presented the vote of thanks along with a token of appreciation to Professor Sangeeta Jain for sharing with the young minds their valuable time and knowledge.
