Student of Jaipuria Institute of Management Indore of PGDM Batch 2016-2018 visited a textile industry Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd. in Indore on October 8, 2016.
Industry visit has its own importance in a career of a student who is pursuing a professional management course. The objective of an industrial visit is to provide students an insight regarding the internal working of companies. Theoretical knowledge is not good enough for making a good professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, the industrial visit provides a student a practical prospective on the world of work. With this prospective, the student of Jaipuria Institute of Management Indore of PGDM Batch 2016-2018 visited a textile industry Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd. in Indore on October 8, 2016.
The textile industry is primarily concerned with the design and production of yarn, cloth, clothing, and their distribution. The Industry visit was conducted by the Senior Manager of Training & Corporate Relations of JIM Indore, Ms. Prabha Tiwari.
Students were taken in the institute bus and it took approximately two hours to reach the site from Jaipuria campus. The plant visit took place for two hours and two guides from the plant helped students to understand various sections of the plant. Initially, a group of 30 students entered into the training room of the plant and a demonstrator briefed about the working of Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd. The Industrial Visit was also coordinated by the Marketing faculty of Jaipuria Indore, Dr. Aditi Naidu. She briefed all the aspect of the industrial activity from a marketing aspect. The students asked various questions from the guide about the operations of the industry, daily production capacity, the difference between organic cotton and regular cotton, their promotion and advertising strategies etc. After the question and answer session, the demonstrator took the students inside the industry and demonstrated the entire manufacturing process of the cloth.
The students visited across various terminals of the cloth manufacturing process such as, Mixing Area, Blow Room, Combing Area, Auto Corners, Ultra Violet Room and Packaging Area. He informed that it is a vertically integrated unit involved in Cotton Farming, Spinning, Knitting, Dyeing and Garment Manufacturing. As per ICMF’s ranking, Pratibha Syntex Pvt Ltd has been ranked as the highest production unit of organic cloth in 2014.
Major part of the production is being exported to cater the requirements of various quality conscious markets, such as Egypt, Israel, China, Canada, Mauritius, South Africa, Columbia, Poland, Brazil, Hungry, etc.
Industry visit is considered as one of the tactical methods of teaching. The main reason behind this – it let's the student to know things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Visiting such companies actually help students to build good relationships with the companies and help to gain a good job in future.
