JIM Indore Organises Inaugural Ceremony of Orientation Program for PGDM batch 2016-2018

The orientation programme for PGDM batch 2016-2018 had successfully conducted by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore on June 27, 2016.

In the garb of a new day is a new beginning, a new struggle, a new endeavor and plethora of opportunities, on this note Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore welcomed its new batch PGDM 2016-18.
The morning on June 27, 2016 began with the much-awaited orientation program exclusively designed for the new batch of 2016-2018.
The program commenced with the inaugural address by Director Jaipuria Institute of Management- Dr. Harshvardhan Halve. Dr. Halve congratulated all the students of the incoming PGDM Batch 2016-18 on joining the Jaipuria Family. He initiated a discussion, based session with the students. He asked them to share ‘what is the dream behind joining PGDM program?’ The question was very well received by the audience. The students all eagerly shared their vision and goal to join this program was to earn a name for them, a platform to hone their skills, to get groomed for joining the corporate and to learn and grow every day. 
The answers were followed by another question from the Director seeking their views on the meaning of spark? The students shared that spark is the zeal to inquire, to know and to learn something new every day. Dr. Halve shared that Jaipuria Indore will serve as a platform for all the students to ignite their spark and provide multiple avenues to learn and grow. He requested the students to start working on emulating a multidimensional approach towards learning for self-enhancement. 

Dr. Halve emphasized that education is one of the most critical investments we make and this enables us to understand the importance of creating a sustainable environment, gearing towards creating a knowledge-based economy that shall help any country maintain its economic competitiveness and global prosperity and in conclusion Dr.Harshvardhan Halve quoted one of the biggest advocates of education Mr. Nelson Mandela by sharing one of his saying that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  


The welcome note was delivered by Dr. Romi Sainy (Assistant Dean – Academics) who shared an inspiring thought dedicated to the commitment of Jaipuria Family and she said, “we will not leave any stone unturned in supporting you build your career and shall equip you with the best possible training and exposure”. 
The welcome note was followed by Saraswati Vandana and lightening of the lamp by all the dignitaries present on the occasion. 
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Mohit Kumar Vice President Human Resources Idea Cellular Ltd. Mr. Mohit in his inspirational address discussed with the students the five core values “Integrity, Commitment, Seamlessness, Passion, and Speed” and shared that “I am sure Jaipuria Institute of Management along with teaching the students the regular course curriculum shall help them imbibe these must haves values to be successful professionals.”
Moving further Mr. Kumar highlighted the importance of being curious, as this particular trait will help the students to know and discover their own path in the corporate world. 
He emphasized that the corporate world today is not only looking for mere employees but they are in search of partners that can support and contribute to building the corporate. 
In his address, he talked about the fundamental requirement for a professional to be a good communicator irrespective of the language. The individual should be able to share her/his ideas with the team. He also shared that there is no ‘one man’ show in the corporate today. The trend is all about competition i.e. an amalgamation of competition and cooperation. 
Lastly, he discussed that every company looks for people who believe in getting results. He shared a small analogy that making mistakes and rising above them is just like riding a horse, you need to get on the horse to experience the thrill of riding and then falling, and then getting back up again. You cannot stand on the sidelines afraid of making a mistake or i.e. falling again, you need to take action. 
The address was followed by the inquisitive minds asking various questions on how to prepare themselves for the future. 
The inaugural session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Priti Bakshi (Assistant Dean- Student Affairs). Dr. Bakhshi began the vote of thanks by saying “Atithi Devo Bhava” and taking this opportunity to express her sincere gratitude towards Mr. Kumar who found time from his busy schedule to come and address the youth of Jaipuria Institute of Management Indore. She also shared her heartfelt thanks to the parents of all the new batch students for showing faith in Jaipuria,Indore to shape their child’s future. In the end, she thanked the faculty, staff and admissions team and all the vendors in making this inaugural program a success. 
The inauguration session was followed by activities such as Faculty and Staff Introduction, then a session on Know your institute sharing the details of campus life coordinate by Dr.Priti Bakhshi along with the hostel team, the concept of student council, facilities at Jaipuria Indore, Hostel, Transport, Mess and Canteenbriefed by Mr.Rahul Bairagi (Head Administration). The next session was on Computer Lab delivered by Dr.Nitin Merh and Dr.Pooja Kushwah (Placement chair), Understanding and Effective Use of Library Resources conducted by Prof.Aditi Naidu and Mr.Vipul Bansal. Followed by Micro lab 1 a session on management games which was coordinated by Dr.Megha Jain and Prof Kalyani Parmal. Another interesting session was Tea with Mentors, the finale program of the Orientation Day 1 was classical dance performance- Mohiniyattam by Ms. Saji Menon from Kerela. 
“The start was amazing, the motivational speech given by Dr.Harshvardhan Halve Director Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore energized me and the management activities taught me to  be more focused on achieving my goals” said by Arunava Acharjee student of batch 2016-2018.
This is how the whole day was well planned and helped the students to understand what PGDM program is offering to them in next two years.
