JoSAA 2017 counseling has commenced

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017 counseling has commenced on June 15. JOSSA has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admission to 97 institutes across India for the academic year 2017-18. It includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23, IIITs and 20 other GFTIs. Admissions to all these institutes are done through a single platform under JoSAA 2017.

The schedule of JoSAA 2017 has been out from 7th June onwards for the engineering aspirants. The online registration and form filling can be done after 15th June 2017. All the candidates should register and choose the desired course or college on or before 26th June 2017. The Joining Counselling is for those aspirants who have qualified JEE Main 2017 and JEE Advanced 2017. There are seven round and levels for JoSAA 2017 counselling and seat allotment. The aspirants who want to withdraw counseling of JoSAA 2017, choices are available.

Seats are being allotted as per the category of the candidate and their eligibility for JoSAA 2017. There are two mock allotments for Joint Seat Allocation Authority this year. 97 institutes will be participating this year which cheers up the hope of each aspirant a bit than earlier.

JoSAA 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

Each institute has their own admission criteria and requirements. Along with JEE Main/Advanced, the candidate should also meet the requirements of the respective institutes which is considered as the basic eligibility criteria of JoSAA 2017.

JoSAA 2017 Seat Allocation:

 JoSAA 2017 counseling seats are allocated based on these factors below:

  • Category of the candidate
  • Position of the candidate in the rank list
  • Prioritization of the academic programme/course
  • Business rules of each Institute for choosing the right candidate

*Availability of the seat can vary according to the requirements of the institute and it may be subjected to any sort of change at any time.

JoSAA 2017 Counselling Procedure:

JoSAA 2017 has commenced and the students can apply for the admission as per the eligibility criteria put forward by the JoSAA. The process of choice filling and admission are as follows:

JoSAA 2017 Counselling Choice Filling:

Students who are qualified JEE Main 2017 and JEE Advanced 20y17 and waiting for the JoSAA 2017, can check the availability of JoSAA’s Spot Round on the official website. Registration for Spot Round can be done through online only. Right after registering, the candidates can choose the programme which is the first step of the process to the seats to IITs and NITs.

Step-by-step procedures of JoSAA 2017 Choice Filling:

  • Click on ‘Online Registering and Choice Filling’ on JoSAA’s official website.
  • Enter JEE Main Roll Number and Password to login. Check whether all the details are correct or not.
  • Click on ‘Change Password’ option to change password which is mandatory.
  • Revise contact details by clicking on ‘Edit Contact Details’. Once you are done with editing, go ahead and submit the form.
  • Click on ‘Choices Available’ to view the various programs from which you can choose your preferences.
  • All choices are available for those who qualified in both JEE Main 2017 and JEE Advanced 2017. For those who have only qualified JEE Main, choices are restricted to programs available in NITs, IIITs and Other-GFTIs.
  • Further click on ‘Choice Filling & Locking’.
  • Fill the choices as many as possible then click on ‘Arrange Filled Choices’ to modify the order of preference
  • Click ‘Choices Interchange’ to make changes in the order of preference.
  • Click ‘Choice Rearrange’ to make changes in preference of more multiple choices.
  • Click on ‘Save’ and then Close the box to see new preferences.
  • Click on “LOCK CHOICE” to make the final selection and take a print-out for further procedures of JoSAA 2017 Counselling.

Note:

  • The candidate should be physically present for the verification process in the allotted center on time.
  • Candidates who make their way to IITs or ISM should report at the respective center.
  • If there is a change in the allotment/ institute/center or anything regarding admission, the candidate should report at the respective center. If the candidate is absent on the day, the application will be considered as invalid.
  • After counseling, the candidate should appear in the respective institute for the completion of admission.
