Omega Leo Club and JUIT jointly had organised a blood donation cam on November 19, 2016.
From simple stationery to their drops of blood, when it comes to helping, Leos at Omega Leo Club, are never seen behind. On November 19, the club held up the Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Jaypee University of Information and Technology where everyone from the students to the teachers donated their blood.
Every year our nation requires about 4 crore units of blood, out of which only a meager 40 Lakh units of blood are available. Blood donation is a safe process. Without prior medical checkups no one is allowed to donate blood. Every blood donor is given a mini-physical, checking the donor's temperature, blood pressure, pulse and haemoglobin to ensure it is safe for the donor to give blood.
There is a constant need for regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time before use. Regular blood donations by a sufficient number of healthy people are needed to ensure that safe blood will be available whenever and wherever it is needed.
Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life or even several if your blood is separated into its components — red cells, platelets and plasma-which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.
At the end of the day, there was a whopping 140 units of blood collected by a well - qualified team of seven doctors from IGMC Shimla.
Amidst all the evils prevailing in our society, it was witnessed that there are still ample amount of people willing to help others and do something for a noble cause.
