The University is one of the oldest government-owned institutions of higher education in the country. The University has continued offering several courses across various streams including Science, Arts, Education, Management, Commerce and Law.
The Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, S. P. Singh, said, “A faculty of engineering will be set up on LU second campus after which affiliation will be given to associated colleges too but the first step is to set up a framework for running the course.” In reference to the number of engineering aspirants flooding in the country, this will also cater the financial needs of the university, leading to an increased revenue graph. Further adding to the statement Mr Singh said that “Having an engineering department will support the university economically too with a better fee structure.”
The authorities have also planned to set up a committee that will be led by experts in several technical fields and will comprise the professors of multiple engineering colleges. The committee will deeply analyse all the aspects of the course programmes and then frame the structure of the course, norms, required infrastructure as well as the admission procedure. As an addition, two of the department professors will also be invited to be a part of decision making procedure and set the given parameters.
