Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), the leader in animation, VFX, multimedia and gaming, inaugurated its new centre in Kukatpally, Hyderabad on 5th February 2016.
The company also announced that it plans to open two more such centres in Hyderabad before the end of this financial year. The two centres will be inaugurated at Secunderabad and Madhapur. With the addition of the new centre, MAAC now has 84 centres pan India.
This is MAAC’s fourth centre in Hyderabad. Kukatpally is a major residential and commercial suburb in Hyderabad in the state of Telangana that is also in close proximity to the IT corridor. It is also a major educational hub with several degree colleges, junior colleges and schools.
Mr. Shajan Samuel Sr. Vice President MAAC said,“With the Indian animation industry witnessing a growth of 34% CAGR (since 2009) and an expected hiring rate of 30%, experts predict that the industry will face a deficit of skilled animators in the future. This means that there is great scope and urgent need to accelerate skill development in the animation industry. For this, we need to eliminate digital gaps, which is only possible by empowering students with the knowhow of latest trends and technology used in the industry. The new centre would provide further impetus to our aim of empowering students through superior training, extensive curriculum and lead them to become specialists in the world of 3D Animation and VFX.”

Mr. Chandan Jha, Director , MAAC Kukatpally said “ The new centre will give students an opportunity to make animation their forte as it is a growing industry with a growing demand for skilled professionals and secondly, to cater to the influx of post production projects from abroad.”
Mr. Dinesh Soni, Director, MAAC Kukatpally said “ We plan to train 250 students in this calendar year, we are planning to multiply and expand very fast to cater to the rising demand of digital content in India.
According to a report by KPMG, the animation, VFX and post-production industry in India has grown from Rs 4,200 crore in 2013 to Rs 5,080 crore today. The CG sector is likely to grow substantially at a CAGR of about 30 per cent and animation by about 15-18 per cent.
Industry analysts believe that India’s animation industry is expected to double in size in next five years as Hollywood studios are prepping to tap a large pool of low-cost, English-speaking animators.
