Mathematics and its Real Life Perspective- A Talk at IP College for Women

Mr. Siraj-ul-Islam from University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar was the Guest of Honor and Speaker for the event

"The universe is written in the language of mathematics." - With this interesting statement, a talk by Mr. Siraj-ul-Islam organised by the Mathematics department of Indraprastha College for Women started. The talk was hosted on the topic "Mathematics and its real life perspective" on 30th September 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the college conference hall. Mr. Siraj-ul-Islam, a professor at University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar,Pakistan was the guest of honour and the speaker as well.

Mr. Siraj ,a well-renowned individual in the mathematics field, has worked on various research papers which have been published. He explained the topic in his own interesting ways. He started by explaining symmetries around us starting right from our body to a tiger's face and the similarities in a nova and a galaxy, sequence and petals of flower etc. He further enlightened the students about, Alan Turing, a brilliant mathematician of 20th century who cracked the famous German enigma code, and laid foundation of digital computer as well as started the trend of publishing research papers.
He described "reaction diffusion equations" and further, using differential equations showed how animals manage uniformity in their patterns. Later he talked about Mathematical biology and connection of mathematics to healing of a wound. 

All the attendees, students as well as the staff members thoroughly enjoyed the programme and were left wondering deeper into the connection of mathematics and real life thus making the talk a success.
